The standard of singing was brought down to accommodate Kishore kumar. But Rafi eat the cream of the songs. No regrets. Rafi is the winner. RD became RD because of Rafi, Teesri Manzil.

There were many back stabbers In film industry right from film artist to music directors In the early 60’s when Kishore Kumar refused to sing for DevAnand , SD Burman used Rafi’s voice for Dev Anand and yet when Kishore Kumar returned to singing from the film Teen. Devian for DevAnand , SD Burman dumped Rafi and gave all the songs to Kishore Kumar This happened also when Teesri Manzil became a hit and Mohd Rafi sang all the songs in the film which was a super duper hit and yet RDB dumped him But Rafi is Rafi and the greatest singer ever and no other singer can ever come close to him

Exceptional films where RDB used Rafi sahab were The Train (iconic song - Gulabhi aanken), Humshakal (kaheko bulaya), Abhilasha ( one of RDB's best songs - Waaadiyan tera Daman)- and songs from al Nasir Hussain films where he was compelled to use Rafi sahab.. I consider RDB and Kishore's best ever was the songs from Amar Prem - Real gems.. (was it because they were sung in Rafi sahab's style! may be)

another wonderful video. RDB shot to fame because of Rafi sahab. But he preferred Kishore da over Rafi sahab which is understandable.. When music directors like Naushad, OP Nayyar, Ravi, LP, Chitragupt, Madan Mohan, Roshan,Sonik Omi, N. Dutta preferred Rafi sahab over other singers, RDB has the right to prefer Kishore da. Strangely, upto 1975 RDB and Kishore were the craze of India - but after 1975 RDB started to fade away ( though now and then he gave few hits) but generally the bollywood music lost its golden age - Every one agrees that Bollywood's music golden age was 1960- 1975 - It is to be noted that 1960 to 1970 - for twenty years it was mainly Rafi Sahab with several legendary music directors and from 1970 - 1975 it was Kishore Kumar mainly with RDB

this shows the level of insult and injustice by the Benagali gang against Rafi Saheb - ideally Rafi Saheb should have rejected these meaningless songs of RD. Its the greatness of Rafi Saheb that he accepted these songs .

But the best songs of Rafi Sahab and S D Burman ( for that matter best in bollywood songs) were when they joined their hands together - Example Guide, Pyaasa, Kagaz ka phool, Kala pani, Meri surat teri aankhen, bombay ka babu, tere ghar ke samne, Teen deviyan (kahin bekhayal) the list goes on.

RD was regionally biased and preferred Kishore. In his initial days he was compelled to take Rafi, s voice like in Chhote Nawab, Teesri manzil etc. Then he gave maximum songs to Kk but some songs were suited only in Rafi, s voice. So he was again forced to go to Rafi,s feet.Thus we find his songs in Yaadon ki Baarat, Caravan, Hum Kisi se kam nahi,Shaan,The Burning Train etc. RD, s career is incomplete without Rafi Sahab.

It's will be better than other to decide about the greatest great rafi sb with R D. You first decide your self

Pancham Da had recorded very good songs in voice of Rafi Sahab which will be remembered in future. Even Rafi Sahab had got one National Award for the song which was composed by RD Burman " Kya hua tera wada". East or West , Rafi is/was/ will always be best.

U have mentioned the film 'Zamaane ko dhikhana hai' but I missed hearing about the film 'Hum kisise kum nahin' which had a National Award winning.song sung by Rafi Saab - 'Kyaa hua tera Vaada' -

that film is already mentioned in the earlier 2 episodes on the subject, where Rafisaab sings for the same hero in the film or both the heroes of teh same film, here the episode is on Kishoreda singing on hero and Rafisaab singing on the character

RD was partial.but Rafi never needed RD.rafi saab cameback strongly with due support of LP madan mohan .but Rafi saab n kishore da were legends.

Except few songs, other songs and were not that much melodious.

यदि आप ध्यान दें तो पाएंगे पंचम दा ने रफी साहब से वही गीत गवाये जिसे उनके पसंदीदा सिंगर या तो गा नहीं सकते थे या गीत उनपर सूट न कर रहा हेता था।

Sir with due respects, Lata didi may have her own flaws as a person, but no one can undermine she being the ultimate in female playback singing, from Gulam Haider Naushad to anand Milind Jatin Lalit Rehman, if every Music Director is remembered for their songs, most of them will be by Lata Mangeshkar, Rafisaab and Latadidi are the last word in playback singing when it comes to voice undisputed love and affection of everyone

Not true.....Lata Ji or Asha Ji were not biased against any male singers.... You can say they played politics against female singers. Lata Mangeshkar had some ego issues with Rafi but that is understood because she is of the same stature as Rafi or maybe even higher.

You are wrong. Prejudice is different than suitability. Top composers always thought Rafi is an ultimate singer. No prejudice. RD Burman and Asha Bhonsley planned against Rafi.
