    A little rambly and long winded, but that's what this game does to us. Heheh. Great info! Thank you sir for covering this for our newer players. I always watch to see if I find a nugget I missed.

    Sorry, i wasn't clear about how PEN works. Yes, it's not a proc, so that extra Armor Pen is always up. However, its benefits rarely outweigh the effectiveness of an additional DMG or CritD mod.

    I assume the crafting system is irrelevant except for Isomags? I made several hundred million EC selling those special turn consoles back when they were the best in slot for engineering consoles. Barely covered the cost of buying the doffs before the consoles became obsolete. I have so many of the ultimate tech upgrades and the Phoenix upgrades stockpiled I will probably never need to buy another upgrade.

    Show em where the recruitment/breakdown quests can be found and the vendors in the Lukari base. Im willing to bet folks dont know about the quest chains on the galaxy map that give you duty officers. There is a Lifer doff mission back in HQ on Earth. It lets you refine more dilithium. Found outside the main bld on the path. Also you can get fleet credits by visiting the Starbase and turning in extra Doff exp. Once your Doff xp is maxed you still can gather points for this. Oh and if you become an ambassador via the Doff you can have an opposing character as a Boff. My SF character got a Gorn (Orions are also popular) - I use him on the ground :D Oh also these are per character so you can log in - get the 5 recruitment missions, and go to the next character and repeat. Collect them and mail the Boffs to the character your working on. NOTE Fed cant use KDF Boff and vice versa. But you can break them down if I remember right. You can store a lot of component boxes in your shared bank for other toons and normal bank for others. Stick them in there and open them once the crafting bonus kicks in from the event. For DPS/general use get the Iconian 4 peice. It makes you tough and all the effects are bonus killing power. Get the Temporal Phase Overcharged Warp Core from the quest, Temporal Rep get the deflector and shield, and Adapted M.A.C.O. Combat Impulse Engines. I havent gotten anything like Thrust since they took the PvP away.

    I was just wondering if anyone else is a little upset that the special mods [pen],[over],[rapid], and so on have been removed from the crafted omni beams and dual heavy cannons. Came as a surprise when i started crafting items for fleet members. After doing some research on the forms, I learned that those mods were removed from their RNG pools about 8 months ago.

    Is there any method of teach your boffs book abilities other than their Menu? Because on console it's different and as it seems after years of play it is only possible on the fitting seating on a Bridge. So to teach any T4 specialisation abilities you need that exact damn seating on your ship....

    @@needparalegal yes, go to the menu where to equipt gear onto your ship. Beneath the mini picture of your ship, and above the ship mastery, you will see a bar. On that bar there is a "visuals" tab. Click on it to apply visuals to your ship that have no bearing on your ship's performance. Normally you put a "Vanity Shield" there. However, you can also slot in any Shield that applys a unique visual effect to your ship. Not just Vanity Shields.

    Blue highlight on Fed ships. Red on KDF. You can tell work was put into the model engine, when the Aegis was IT. As It looks good on everything. I hand out Aegis sets to new players. The set is great fro levelling too. A set at XII for toons hitting 45. A set at XV until they get their rep gear. Then hand the Aegis down to the next new toon. Love that its account wide.

    I really wish CRYPTIC/STO would give us the option to buy the TR-116 that was the target copy exclusive when the game launched. I bought the collector's edition, which gave access to the T1 connie, the red matter battery, and the TNG uniform. The game now has all of the collector's edition items available to everyone through several bundles or other in-game items. The same can be said for the liberated borg eng boff that was an Amazon exclusive.

    There's no way they'll ever rereleased the original TR-116 from the Target preorder because it's effectively game-breaking. The ability to shoot through walls was far too powerful, and frankly, never should've been introduced in the first place.

    @Stu1701 being able to shoot through walls, wasn't that the whole idea 🤔 when the tr116 was shown in ds9. The only thing that was game breaking was that it was able to due captain level equipment dmg the moment your toon could claim it after the tutorial. That said, I don't know if it can be upgraded now or not.

    @Stu1701 I'm only saying that making the "Target pre-order" TR116 available in the phoenix store would level the playing field for all players to get the item. Even editing the tr116 so dmg scales with level will fix most of the issues.

    great guide. I don't know if you have already done a video or know of another STO youtuber who has done one but can you do a video on what Cat 1,2,&3 mean , how to identify/determine what damage boosts fall into which of the three 'cats', & when/how a player should activate their buffs to get maximum benefit out of them before or after activating their firing mode as I have yet to see a single video on these topics from any of the well know STO youtubers such as yourself and yet you and the other major STO youtubers constantly talk about 'cat 1,2&3' as if everyone in your audiences (mainly those I am assuming who play STO themselves) not only know what you are talking about but understand as well. Or if a video is too much of a hassle maybe you can direct people to a guide(s) that has already been made about these topics on some other website. please and thank you.

    For a long time now I've seen Auggie set all his mods to CritDx4 CritD/Dmg on all his weapons for most of his builds. Does anyone even do the Omega upgrades any more? Last Omega event I just kept getting red ones. So I quit. Reengineering should be called Mod Gambling. I actually have Gumarre the Ferengi. I don't remember what their initial deal was with the Aegis set, but if you had it, it was seen as an accomplishment.

    I do the Omega grind - the mini-game is mind-numbingly tedious (I usually watch/listen to a film or tv show while I do it) but the rarity upgrades are particularly useful for guaranteeing a rarity increase on low mark items which eliminates the RNG element to it - I managed to accumulate 500 upgrades last time. You say you gave up because you kept getting red Omega materials. That's because you have to go to different locations for the other colours. It's not random. Each colour omega particle appears consistently in certain locations. For example...if you want yellow Omega head to Drozana Station. Yellow particles are in space outside the station and on ground inside the station. They move around slightly within that location over time, but they're always there during the event. For blue Omega, New Romulus Command is my preferred location. For Red Omega the space outside DS9 is handy. To make it super convenient, I station a different character at each location for the duration of the event, so they don't have to move much, and can just farm whichever colour I need when I have the time by switching to that character. Hope this might help for next time, if you're interested in revisiting it.

    Really surprised that you didn't talk about the R&D level 15 Traits you unlock. A good chunk of them are really useful in making builds, even then some are great to have. An Example would be the R&D Engineering Trait: Give your All provides a 20% Flat Damage reduction for 3s, pair it with a low cool down engineering ability like Aux to Structural and you can reduce a LOT of incoming damage during a fight.

  • @NotoriousNickNorris
    @NotoriousNickNorris3 күн бұрын

    I definitely appreciate your videos, but as a veteran STO player I gotta say you misled your viewers a teeny little bit by diminishing the value of Rarity of items. It's more than just an extra trait mod. It actually impacts the stats on its own. (I get you were sort of simplifying it) For consoles, a 1 level increase in rarity is equivalent to 1 Mk level higher than the same item rarity below it. Ex. Phaser Relay Mk X Very Rare is 26.2%, while the Mk XI Rare is 26.2%, and the Mk XII Uncommon is also 26.2%. By that same logic, you need to level a lower rarity one Mk higher to equal the buff of the rarity above it. For energy type mods, it goes up +1.87% reach MK rank or each rarity. This means a higher rarity permits a higher cap for how big the buff can get. The final jump from Mk XV Very Rare to Ultra Rare and Epic appears to be be even more significant. At least when weapons are concerned. It pretty set for everything else. I'll have to do more testing to be sure. The math on these goes from simple to nuts.

  • @Stu1701

    @Stu1701

    8 күн бұрын

    it does work, it just take forever to get the mod you want because they put way too many possible mods on them (their idea of a dil sink). For isomag (or the hangar bay consoles too), reengineer them until you get any first energy weapon damage type, those sell the best. Then sell it on the exchange, then use that to fund getting an isomag with a mod you actually want. Not every energy weapon mod is equal (pretty sure phaser and plasma are the most expensive right now), but it's better than endlessly reengineering one isomag.
