You're husband is thoughtless. I have 2 kids with my late husband . Yet my husband now and I still give each other the respect of celebrating that we are each parent's.

In school we always had a special arts and crafts period to make something for our moms before mothers day. Why does hoenschooling mean he cant do that? You tell your kid "mothers day is coming up, its a day where we give our moms gifts to show appreciation, come lets make something nice for mothers day" there is no reason to expect a child to take the initiative on that. Same with the husband, sounds like hes a poor planner and you MUST know that, so youd have to let him know ahead of time if you were intereted in going out. Otherwise a simple "oh well thats okay, lets make a special breakfast at home to celebrate" suffices. It sounds like OP is sensitive and hurt by this but at the same time has done nothing to help herself. If she was going to expect things for mothers day, she shouldve made that clear. I didnt get anything for mothers day, but i also moved to a country where kts not celebrated, so we all simply forgot until the grandparents called us.
