Beautiful book beautiful Islam

Verse 39 in surah Rum is talking about interest, and how many people practice it to multiply their own wealth but it won’t work with Allah. In Islam interest and usury are both prohibited, for the one who takes the loan/interest and the one who provides, both in the transaction are at fault, Interest can lead society to a path of destruction because it creates a lot of debt and the rich become richer while the poor become poorer. Rather we should always try our best to avoid interest and usury, especially in these modern times when interest has become so prevalent. Allah goes on to saying that we should give more charity instead. We often think that we will lose money by giving charity, but Allah tells us that He will increase us in wealth if we give more to the poor rather than drown ourselves in debt and interest. It also teaches not to buy so many expensive things and put ourselves in more danger.

Is there any difference between usury and interest ? I thought its just the word for riba

So , let all people around the world come near , without prejudice , arrogance , hate or racism , but with complete honesty , to read and understand it. Then let them give their feedback sincerely. No author in a book has ever used his "I" as amazingly as in Quran , or showed his knowledge , his challenges to everyone , his control and his whole character , in a truthful beautiful straightforward manner , as showed in Quran. I had an epiphany yesterday, in an old Islamic nasheed (song) the poet kept saying "wisdom is the refinding of innocence". I think I understand a bit of what he means now : ) ... by gaining wisdom it helps the fitrah to become unclouded and for a person to become more "innocent". May Allah bless your journey. Ameen. That's true I remember 20 years ago narcissism wasn't that epidemic as it's now, and I think one of the reasons is before the politician's, religious leaders, celebrities where normal people and people always fellow these kind of people, this is on of the end time signs, we need to educate ourselves before is too late.

Salma, I totally agree and the irony is that when ever you try to highlight the problems we have us Ummah than they try to shift their blame away to something else and be sarcastic about it so that we become confuse about what is really going on, some of them are highly educated in Islam, buck I didn't knew what Narcissism, cover Narcissist, Borderline, Sociopath, or the DSM-5 was but when I educate myself I was really shocked, and all of the sudden every hadith of the prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) make more sense and more convinced that we are at the last stage of end time any moment you may expect the big news, try to read every day the first 10 verses of Surah Al-kahf so that you have been protected from this fitna Dajjal.

The Quran talks deeply and makes you think in a different perspective so this chapter isn't intended to talk about battles and history it's talking about western civilization and repeat of history caused by following one's lust and disbelief in God.

2:47 I think "corruption" is the proper translation not "mischief", because the Arabic word used is "فساد" or "fassad" which is directly translated to "corruption". I like to think that mass pollution is a prime example for the corruption that's appeared on land and sea as the verse says, and now it's coming back at us unfortunately!

Although this verse was originally an allusion to the war that was going on between Byzantium and the Persians, It can also apply to most wars throughout history and also to mass pollution. Allah shows the evil consequences of some of the acts of men in this world before the punishment of the Hereafter so that they understand the reality, feel the error of their conjectures and turn to the righteous belief, which the Prophets of Allah have been presenting before man since the earliest times, Which is basically submitting to Allah only (not adopting shirk and atheism) and be a successive authority on Earth (not causing corruption and pollution). "do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption" Al-Baqara : 60

Dear Milahan, The prophet and his companions gave names to the chapters of the Quran to distinguish them and to know where to place every verse that happens to be revealed at the time. The prophet would instruct them to put the newly revealed verse after or before a certain verse in a certain chapter. The names chosen did not necessarily describe the whole chapter, but instead describe a prominent verse within that chapter. Take for instance the Baqara chapter, one of the longest chapters in the Quran, in it there are few verses which talks about the cow. Similarly, this Ar-rum (the Romans) chapter, it is named such because of its beginning verses where it mentions an important prophecy that will soon come true and increase the faith of the believers. And Allah knows best.
