I totally agree with DR. K N Singh, Malays are very clever race, only have been labelled by irresponsible Malay politicians, who say Malays are left behind than other races in study, economy and business. Even have been labelled Malays are the lazy people , by wicked Malay politician for decades. Hope modern Malays are able to understand and see clearly they are good people and strong enough to compete with fellow’s races in Malaysia, make Malaysia proud and peaceful nation to live in.

Thank you for bringing this up Dr Singh. The idea of having special schools for the deeply rural and less privileged children by DSAI is a good one.If they progress well they can be promoted. All amenities to promote learning including nutritious food should be provided. However there must be proper monitoring so there is no abuse in any form. Eventually those who don't continue in institutions of higher learning should be provided with skills based training which can enrich their lives. Our education system went downhill when the syllabi was lowered in standard to help rural schools. Books that we used in standard 6 cannot be understood by many in form6 now

It is impossible for any party to lead the country if a leader cannot speak facts.

I am a Non-Malay but right off the bat, when I watched the student raising this issue, I could see that she was a pawn. She was reading an “essay” and gullible that she was, she thought that she would have her 2 minutes of fame. I am not condemning her, but the instigator. I wasn’t surprised with PMX’s reaction for I was myself irritated with her rambling. She just could not register that PMX asked her a couple of times what her question was. I admit, it must have been intimidating but if you really had it deep in your heart that you really need to address the issue, it would be easy for you to articulate. The affirmative actions that we have in the U is one of dumbing down the whole system. Instead of dumbing down we should at least level up the disenfrenchised. The real tyranny is not of insisting on merit but by stripping away the dignity of the disadvantaged group by giving them an undeserved opportunity. How many felt trapped and helpless in such programs ? I know many of them when this program was started in the universities. Even had helped a few engineering students to solve very simple calculus problems that they were not equipped to handle. Can't imagine them designing our buildings or our energy grid !

In all fairness there should be one premiere university where the students have to sit for an entrance examination and the cream of the country are admitted on pure merit so that there brain drain is stopped. Yes cant immediately reduce quota system but why should non malays who qualify be disregarded simply because they are not bumis. The malays are no less intelligent. However rendering them complacent is not to their advantage. Some of the top notch medical practitioners are malays but these are not those that relied on quota. They are there based on merit. Will we have such malays if they are constantly being given the advantage regardless of merit. What we will have are sub standard professionals. Of what use is such quota system. Ironically we will then be procuring medical professionals frm overseas- simply because the ones we have are sub standard and those who could have made the mark have been left out because of the so called quota system

We never hated our Malay brotherens but loved them like our family members too. We accept that to share d wealth of d nation, d govt must ensure that children from every nook n corners of d nation to be brought forward to uplift d society by length n breadth of d nation. Most natural human response is that when they(Bumi) gathered all the privileges through political or other means over time then would you think the Bumi would give them up? I don't think so. A fair method for all races would be to give them(BUMI) a timeline say 5-10 years and gradually reducing their privileges. This way would spur them to perform into the future.

Brilliant youths, regardless of race must be automatically given a place in their respective choice in major. Don't we need such talents to develop the nation? They should not be the "case to case" statistics. The borderline are the ones should make appeals or given alternate opportunities. Unfortunately the smart people in the Unis and Civil Service did nothing to lift a finger to help shape a policy and make it more effective instead of letting the policy which require to be configured to evolve with the social needs. Take this present predicament that begs attention of those in power. An approach to resolve this problem can be better appreciated if the demographic factors are taken into consideration and configured as close to as possible to reimage the policy of the quota system giving sufficient allowances for those who may have been left out due to the point blank cut off quota system. Save the cream and nurture these brilliant youth. In China the minorities are accorded privilleges that exceed those of the majority Han Chinese who have to compete for a place in the Uni. Here it is the other way around. So this is a favorable racial implement for politician to manipulate the votes. In the long run, the tongkat can never be dismissed. 100% agree the wealthy cannot expect the assistance from government. 100% agree this social poison pill will be played over and over again. Its tragic. Bright students that scored well should be rewarded and qualified regardless of background. They earned it. They are the minority that are brilliant and talented. Give them the attention, if not, commitment to excellence and developing human resource for the nation is questionable. It is weakness.

Meritocracy and Fairness are two different scenarios. The former is to reward/assess a person based on his achievements, with equal opportunities, such as in a exams. While the latter, provides a situation where there's a need to groom, nurture and give whatever support to those in need ( but one must also work equally hard ), to achieve a fair state base on Meritocracy/ level playing field. Surely, not everyone will be entrepreneurs, professionals, etc. Then, who will be doing the blue collar work in our society..? In developed countries, even the blue collars jobs are well paid. No. The social contract they signed and what is being doled out as bumi previlege isnt the same. The constitution says all citizens are equal. Special status acknowledging Bumi as natives pertains to the use of malay culture and traditional ways alone as the national official decorums and events. The economic pie redistribution isnt bumi rights. It was the DEB after the race riots of 69 which was suppose to be implemented for 20 years only. Reason why special timeline is because its against the constitution for one race or religion to have more rights than others. Read the constitution.

Actually it's depends on what kind course applied, gender & place. 12A girl student compete in critical course at top rank college compared to 5A male student compete in non critical course at average college. There're many bumiputera have to apply second time for critical courses too. Ended up rejected or placed in non favourable courses & colleges which refer to their last choices from their list as backup.

Meritocracy & quota system normally applied for first application. But not for second application which refer different criteria. For critical courses, almost no quota system exist. If she said she failed to get into critical courses due to quota, I don't think so because those courses are highly competitive. Especially with high ranking colleges. There are many candidates with better results from her. Of course we want students with good results have their chance too. That's what she should ask pmx to find other solutions. Not questioning whatever previous leaders' decision.
