    RoboCoonie Wolver Thank you for posting, you have a good narrative voice. Never heard of a radiator O2 sensor. Own 2010 Mazda 5. I had a shop tell me one rear strut was leaking and they needed replacing (always replaced in pairs). I later found a TSB (technical service bulletin by Mazda) that said a small amount of leak was normal. 70k miles on it. I did not replace them and tire wear and handling is fine (shop may/may not know of tsb). Another TSB mentioned clunk noise when pulling away from being parked as normal noise; I noticed this to and it has not been a problem, the tsb did not mention what is making the noise, kinda weird though. On third set of tires. Not a fan of low profile tires but that's the only ones that fit it, hitting potholes with them sucks. The owner's manual says not to run spare (spare is not full sz tire) on front, so this is a hassle bc then you have to swap a rear to the front ie change two tires to get to shop, or have tow or fix a flat to get to shop. On third set of tires; premature tire wear is known issue. Sometimes it will not start on first cranking, wait a couple min and then it starts ok. I did a fuel additive to clean fuel injectors, seemed to help the no start on first crank but I am not positive, I just haven't noticed it again. Cleaned the maf sensor too (diy youtube). I removed engine beauty cover bc critters like to nest under it and it is totally unnecessary anyway--critters can chew up wiring. On fourth battery, one of them was bc light left on, the others not sure but maybe due to all electronic parasitic draw eg anti-theft while car is off. Considered getting rid of it bc it is manuel and I have bad clutch knee; however, going to keep it as a sleeper for now bc may end up homeless, I'm 5'7" and have already slept in it many a night, only needed sleep pads, no conversion needed. . Cheers.

    I just spout back what my mechanic said was wrong with it. I'm not an in-depth car guy, just like enough to be very interested in them but for all the wrong reasons. My friend had it for another five years before the transmission died on him and then he scrapped it. Honestly, I miss the car and it's a bad move on Mazda for scrapping it as well.

    @@malikawan7770 I'm not sure if you are asking me or the person that posted the video... if you are asking me I really recommend the Mazda 5 2006. It is smaller than the Honda Odyssey. This is 2020 and I have 128,000 miles on my Mazda 5, never replaced anything major - just maintenance - and it runs beautifully. I know I'm due for a water pump but my mechanic said if it ain't broke don't fix it. There is no timing belt which is nice. I have not had any transmission problems and I go over two mountain grades all the time. i was commuting 70 miles a day in it for awhile. It has its quirks like all cars but thanks to videos like this I was able to figure them out. One thing that took me forever to figure out is the seats all fold down to create a nice flat cargo area. The middle seats fold down when you lift the bottom part of the seat up. Just change all the fluids (transmission, brakes, coolant) keep the engine filter clean and change the oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic. If you get one I hope you enjoy it.

    Mazda, I believe, falls under the Ford perview and parts of it likely come from other Ford vehicles, but I'm not sure at what point the transition was made between build in Japan and ship it over, or build in the US and badge it. Realize though, that I haven't had this car for over 10 years.

    There's a small loop of fabric in the seat towards the back of the seat. You pull on that and the seat opens forward to access the under seat storage.

    This is one of those cargo or passengers van, it's not really both. It's not really got the amount of cargo space that you'd find in an Odyssey or Grand Caravan since this is a compact minivan. If you want lots of space while carrying passengers as well, get a larger minivan. The Mazda5 was really for a smaller family that wouldn't need to haul a lot of things at the same time. If, for example, you gotta carry just yourself + a spouse and two kids and a stroller and all their stuff, you can fold down the 3rd row seat and do that. But if you need the 3rd row seat too, you won't be able to get a stroller into the van as well. Very much a passengers OR cargo van.

    This model doesn't have the 3rd middleseat. It only has the two second row seats and the two third row seats. There were models with a 3rd middle row seat, and it unfolded from inside the driverside 2nd row seat storage area.

  • @RoboCoonie

    @RoboCoonie

    4 жыл бұрын

    I sold it at 155000 (I think, give or take 20K) miles on it, and it averaged about one major repair every five years, which wasn't bad. The transmission started having issues around year 12 (after I sold it), the last repair I made before turning it over to my friends was the rear suspension, a radiator oxygen sensor and replacing the emergency brake cable. It cost about $750. But the biggest expense was always replacing the tires. That car went through tires like they were out of fashion, but that's only if you're putting on the performance instead of the touring tires. I'd honestly still have the minivan, but my friends had a need and I really like driving my Smart car.
