Some people here don’t seem to understand how quintessons work. In the G1 episode, The Return Of Optimus Prime part 1, we see one face on the side of a judge’s head talking while death works to revive Optimus. So it’s very clear that Quintesson judges faces are independent beings with different personalities. This scene seems to depict that in a way similar to multiple personality disorder, this judge has a dominant personality which was rage and rage killed the others which is possible by the face it seems to be the dominant one and that they are each independent beings on one body.

I had no idea that Quintessons could do something even remotely close to this and survive, *let alone it being self-inflicted.* Sure they did some messed up stuff in G1, but still.

@@dedalionarts6077 I think it's kinda like the movie "Split", where there is multiple personalities all battling each other but the physco-murderous one is the most dominant and the other personalities barely get a say in any situation. I think the original decision was simply to capture and reprogram them for what the Quintessons needed them for, but when they turned out to be a faction that wanted peace, they all started having second thoughts except for Death which just wanted them all dead for rebelling against The Quintesson Empire.

@@dedalionarts6077 Oh yeah, my mistake. I thought that the one that survived was Death but you're right. It's Rage/Wrath (either one works, but sometimes different universes have different names for the faces).

i thought the quintesson faces always worked in union even though they debated and argued, like in cyberverse n 1986 movie i never imagined one face gains control only to cut out the other faces- that is hellish to see n cold blood

It might have something to do with Deeseus being a renegade. Maybe the twisted nature of Quintessons is a calculated moral standing that keeps their five main impulses in check, and Deeseus could only maintain their own by assuming a shadow of influence over the two liberated factions.

let me re word my discription, i’m no psychologist, but from other media i’ve seen, sometimes with split personalities, they can be let out through an outlit, like the scarface puppet in dc comics. what deseus is doing is basicly using masks, except instead of switching between the masks to change personalities, all 5 are pressent at all times. by removing the face, there is no longer an outlet for the personality, like in the batman, when the scarface puppet was removed, there was no “scarface” until the puppet was reintroduced to the guy

That moment when you finally realize what this thing is doing to itself when your watching this for the first time.

I saw the faces on quintesson judges as a way for them to express their emotions clearly and selectively. We are all conflicted in our emotions, sometimes we are teared by them. He freed the cybertronians, but He got exiled by his people and forgotten by those he helped. Maybe he had growing anger but still felt regret and kinship. By making wrath the only face, he can vent frustration without remorse, l guess. Just a theory.

That’s a good theory I liked to think Deesius also being alone for some many eons also resulted in his wrath slowly gaining more control over the selective emotions and when his Logical side tried to rebel and spare the Autobots in hopes of finding salvation from the barren world they were on Wrath took that chance to sever his emotions and begin a new plan to try and take his revenge on both cybertron and his own kind

It’s a pretty decent theory. I was just under the impression that this Quintesson merely thinks he’s Deseeus. The guy’s already a confirmed nut job, so it’s not much of a stretch to think that he believes himself to be someone he is not.

The Judge quintessons faces aren't just faces they are their own individual personalities, they serve as a council. They share the same body but have vastly different minds. Each quintessons face represents an emotion or body. The five faces include Death, judgement, War, Wisdom and the most dangerous of the five being Rage. Rage is the most unpredictable and uncontrollable emotion, there is no reasoning with rage it is the most chaotic power in the known universe. The only force that is able to counter the effects of Rage is Love. If you listen closely the last face to be killed was wisdom (whom represents the voice of reason) and you can literally hear him pleading and begging rage to stop. The other faces clearly betrayed rage and rage could not let go of its quest for revenge, thus it killed the others so that they could no longer disrupt it's council. Because the quintessons are inescapable of love and joy (as far as we know) there was no one left to stop rage. quintessons are a vastly complex race that are hard to understand so I am merely speculating and I don't mind if you disagree, to each their own. Awesome theory btw. Xx

When I first saw this I was speechless and my jaw was dropped because this is the first time any quintesson has cut off their other faces to just have one I know that they were already insane but for deceaus to do this makes him, her, them, it?! Even more apeshit crazy!

Well in G1 there were other Quintessons with only one face. But yeah, none of them were Judges. Maybe Deeseus is one of those Quintesson criminals that they banished to the far corners of the universe (he’s certainly insane enough even by their standards). Like that one Quintesson called Mara Al Utha, who got banished for practicing sorcery and ended up on that wizard planet.

I can't believe a Quint did this....I always thought they love to hear themselves speak but apparently...that's not the case.

I think the Quintesson just won the ripping faces of competition. I don't think Prime could be as brutal as this.

There was a scene in g1 where 1 of the judges was kept hostage by the autobots and was sentenced to death by others, his "last" words were that he accepts their judgment. It's obvious that these guys will do pretty much anything that lines with their twisted logic, and I would accept an explanation that a small part of other faces willingly participated in decapitation.

This seen is the most disturbing scene in transformers... Yet I watched it again?

When I saw this with my dad I was like: JESUS while my dad was like:WTF

I hate that people think this is a wasted character. It really isn't. Yes, the writing surrounding Desseus may have been low-quality in terms of their screen time and presence as an overall villain, but I want to bring up a few things: 1. We have always seen quintessons agreeing with one another on a course of action, whether they be judges, juries, or executioners, all the faces always come to consensus. So that aspect of the character, wanting to reach consensus and having Wrath interpret that as removing anyone that stood in their way, was actually genius. 2. This is representative of someone with multiple personality disorder, or DID. All the time, those people struggle with who they are, and what they want to do when it comes to decisions. often meaning one personality takes control and disregards the others in order to achieve its own ends. This is perfectly framed as a being who struggles with multiple personalities and an issue with agreeing. 3. People constantly say this is pandering because one of the female faces was the one to survive. BULLSHIT! This isn't pandering, it's logic. The face that survived was wrath. Wisdom wouldn't have done that, Death would've, but was probably the first removed as to prevent that chance from occurring, Wit could've, but wouldn't be smart enough to pull it off as well, and Doubt... well, obviously, Doubt would've failed before even picking up the knife. It isn't about the female face surviving, it's about how logical it is that Wrath would be the face to do such a horrendous act against their own personalities. Like a person with DID cutting off other personalities to better function and eventually losing the ability to communicate with those personalities they shut down, this makes sense. 4. While not the best character, this is the most interesting of those presented in the WFC: Earthrise season, at least in my opinion. And this portrayal is how quintessons SHOULD be played. Always in disagreement, never able to reach a consensus....

Mercy is the exact opposite of the name of the remaining head.

When I first saw this scene I was like “oh shoot they killed the nice guy now the autobots are going to die” and then I saw the other faces and I was like “what? Wait… “ and then I saw Wrath. Also this and the time Medusa from inhumans’ hair was cut was also another time where the writers decider to take away the most memorable thing about the character. Interestingly, both involved cutting.

Rated as TV-Y7, while it was dubbed by a company that not only is kinda corrupted, due to a 2019 defamation, but some of Thee VAs, from their usual projects believed in a false allegation.

Rage is the most strongesr emotion, he was able to gain hold of his chassy and murdered everyone else. (Even Death even him! I am sure Death would have agreed with Rage.) Well Deseeus is one messed up quintesson.

I always wondered why the other heads didn’t stop her. I mean they each had some control of the body, why didn’t they stop her and then get rid of her for trying to do that.
