Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition that challenges engineering
students to design and build an off-road vehicle that can sustain the severe
punishment of rough terrain and competitions. Envisioned and run by the Society
of Automotive Engineers, Baja SAE tests the skills of future engineers, teaching
them to work together as a team to discover and resolve technical challenges, as well
as business issues.
Each team’s goal is to design and build a prototype of an all-weather, rugged, singleseat,
off-road recreational vehicle intended for sale to the nonprofessional weekend
off-road enthusiast.
The Quinnipiac University School of Computing and Engineering conducted a
redesign of several features of the first vehicle and competed for the first time in the
spring of 2022.
