    Great demo!! And great playing! Holy smokes what an insane lick at 1:40 Gotta figure that one out. But sadly my fingers don't move like that!! Question: How is the clean headroom? How loud will this get feeding an 8 ohm cab? I'm looking for mostly clean jazz and acoustic applications. I realize it depends on speaker sensitivity - just looking for a qualitative assessment. Would it be mainly for monitoring applications or could it hang with a jazz group (bass, drums, horn, etc)? Finally, have you checked out the Seymour Duncan PowerStage? How do the clean tones compare? I assume the SD has more headroom.

    Hi Vince! The InterBlock 45 definitely gets pretty loud! Like you mentioned, speaker sensitivity will for sure be a factor, and it really depends on how hard the drummer is playing. Boynton Pro Audio has a warehouse packed full of gear, but with all of the hustle and bustle in the warehouse and in the offices, I end up taking the gear home to shoot these videos so as not to disturb everyone else at Boynton. At home I have a 16 ohm 4x12 loaded with lower efficiency Celestion Greenbacks, and an 8 ohm 4x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30's with big magnets. I did crank the InterBlock 45 up through both cabinets...and even at only 17 watts through the 16 ohm cab, it was really astonishingly loud. I think 33w at 8 ohms through a higher efficiency speaker would be plenty loud enough for some strong, clean headroom. I'd suggest turning the master volume all of the way up, and then using your gain control as a master volume. That'll give you the most amount of headroom. I haven't personally tried the PowerStage, but Boynton Pro Audio is Seymour Duncan dealer and I've heard nothing but good things about it. Either would be a great option. For jazz stuff though, I think I'd personally want to take advantage of Quilter's preamp. Don't be shy about giving us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01 if you'd like to chat more about the Quilter or Duncan amps, and we'd be happy to hook you up with a KZread promo code to save you a few bucks on any order between now and Black Friday! Hi. This question is for anyone that may have an answer. I screwed up and put in the wrong power supply on my interblock 45. Still power's up but no sound. Any idea what I may have blown and if it's fixable? Thanks for any and all help.

    I had my sights on the Quilter 101 Reverb, but now seeing this Interblock 45, I'm sort of leaning toward it. I want direct out, which the 101R does not have. How does the base sound of the Interblock 45 hold up to the 101R tones? I'm definitely looking for that Fender Blackace territory tone.

    Kip Count Both amps have a very similar tone stack, so you can dial them in to sound really close to each other. They’re both excellent options. If you need a DI out, the InterBlock might just be the way to go.

    Pretty sweet! For going direct, is the line out with the FR different than the FX send?

  • @JuanCanteli

    @JuanCanteli

    Hi Brian. In this video I was doing a mix of a few things. The clean guitars and the melodies with the gold guitar were done with the InterBlock’s direct out. The rest of the guitars were done by using the effects send straight into my interface and then adding impulse responses of speakers in my DAW. It’s been a while since I had an InterBlock in front of me, so you may want to double check with the people at Quilter or Boynton Pro Audio about the differences in tone between the direct out and the effects loop send. I haven’t worked at Boynton for a while now, but just saw this video posted somewhere else and saw your comment. I don’t think the Boynton folks check the KZread comments often, so if you have any questions for them, calling/emailing them directly is probably the best bet!

    Great demo Juan. It seems you prefer to put the IR out of the FX loop send as opposed to the line out. Why?

  • @BoyntonProAudio

    @BoyntonProAudio

    5 жыл бұрын

    Hi Jay! The line out sounds great. It's a pre-set EQ curve designed to mimic a lot of the characteristics of a speaker cabinet. So for the most straight ahead option, just a cable from the line out right into the PA system or your recording interface would do the trick. When using an IR, if you used the line out jack then you'd be stacking Quilter's cabinet model along with the IR which would color the tone in an unauthentic way. To get around this, you can just run a cable from the FX loop send right into your IR loader pedal, or right into your recording interface and add an IR in your DAW. The speaker/cabinet/IR is one of the components that makes the biggest difference in your overall guitar tone, so we just tried to show how you could take $199 guitar amp, add a $10 impulse response and get a guitar tone that could compete with amps that cost five or ten times as much money. As a reference, all of the clean guitar tracks and all of the tracks with the gold guitar were played via the line out jack, the solos and the heavy rhythm guitars under the last solo were with an IR of a Celestion Greenback.

  • @bo1ivarj

    @bo1ivarj

    5 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback. If you were to gig this thing with a cab but wanna go direct to the PA simultaneously, how would you integrate the IR loading pedal? I'm assuming that hooking up the IR pedal to the fx send without anything going back into the return would not work.

  • @BoyntonProAudio

    @@bo1ivarj There are a couple of ways around this. The cheapest option would be a mono 1/4" female to dual 1/4" male cable. You could send one path back into the effects loop and the other path into the IR loader. You may run into a ground loop though, so an ABY box with a ground lift might be a quieter way to do the same thing. Using a reactive load box like the Two Notes Torpedo Captor would also be a great option, but it's about $50 more than the InterBlock 45...so unless you also have some tube amps that you'd use it with, it may not be the most economical way to go. Before you go spending more money though, give the InterBlock's line out a try. It does sound really good, and could very well be all that you need. If you do decide to pick up an IR loader like the Mooer Radar along with an ABY box, give us a call at 1-877-SOUND-01 and mention that we chatted in the comments on KZread. One of the people in our office can put a nice package deal together for you to save you some money. -Juan

    The InterBlock 45 is definitely its own thing, but with the voicing setting in the ‘full’ mode it’ll sound similar to the regular 101, and in the ‘vintage’ setting it gets pretty close to the 101 Mini Reverb.

    You could run a cable from the InterBlock 45’s effects send to your amp’s effects loop return. Then you’d be bypassing your amp’s preamp and the InterBlock’s power section and just use the Quilter as a preamp with your combo amp’s power section.

    BoyntonProAudio thanks for the quick reply! I play primarily clean, but, I definitely need extra kick when it comes to solos. I’m an R&B and funk guy so. The le crunch seems to have a lot of versatility along with the channel switching. I also plan to use a Mooer Radar for my cab sims and a Mooer Baby Bomb as a power amp when I want to run a physical cab as a monitor.

    Theophilus Akai If you’re not going to be using pedals, the Two Notes might be the way to go with the ability to channel switch. If you have pedals that you like, the Quilter is a fantastic pedal platform. It also has a great spanky, Fendery clean tone on the vintage setting. Either would work great!
