Quigley Shooting Sticks Part I

Спорт

We get a lot of requests for video on shooting sticks, so it looked like it was finally time to give in and get it done. Turned out to be quite a process though, and in the interest of keeping each video segment short and to the point (more or less), I decided to break it up into three segments.
In this video, we look at different pairs of shooting sticks and go over some of our likes and dislikes. I also show you guys the prototype pair of sticks I've been using for the last few months, and we map out what the new sticks will look like on a nice piece of walnut I got from eBay.

Back in my younger rifleman years I could hold my 11 pound 22_250 off hand shooting several hundred yards. now 63 and disabled forget that. shooting sticks will be great if I find or make some to fit my needs especially hunting. Papa

You should start all the videos with the shooting 2 big revolvers scene. I think Elmer would have liked it. About 2 weeks ago I added blades to my sticks. Keeps them standing when shooting the rifle and in the wind when standing alone. Would like to see how your new sticks turn out. What do you use for a rifle cart at the matches?

I’ve been using that prototype set of sticks that I made from the 2 x 4 for several months now. At first, I thought that the little feet would break off the bottom of the stick fairly easily, however, I found that since I don’t have to pound the nail all the way into the ground bone tight to keep the stick standing. I don’t feel like that will really be an issue. I’m very confident that the new set of sticks are going to perform exactly the way I want. They’re almost done at this point, and I have enough video to start editing that one together for the follow up to this video. As far as carts go, the Quigley is the only match you need a card for. The card I’m using is from an outfit called gorilla carts. You could look on their website and find a cart with the wide wheel track. I want to say that the distance between the wheels is 32 inches side-by-side. the Quigley takes place in a cow pasture. There are often ruts on the firing line and people with skinny carts, sometimes have their carts overturn while they’re pulling them.
