Quietest Dehumidifier- Luko 3000: Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Luko 3000 is the most quiet dehumidifier available. It will remove about 2 liters of moisture a day. The noise level is low- less than 45db. That is an especially quiet dehumidifier! You will not hear the dehumidifier in an office, if you work next to it, or use it at night for dehumidifying the bedroom. It comes with wheels that can be removed and a drainage hose for continuous dehumidifying and draining. The Luko has an audible alarm when the drainage tank is full. It has a removable filter that can be cleaned. The ionizer can be turned on or off (despite a review suggesting otherwise). This practically silent dehumidifier has 2 fan speeds, 5 modes, a timer, and is lightweight- 22 pounds. This is a low consumption dehumidifier- 230 watts, making it low cost to run. This dehumidifier is ideal for around 300-500 square feet. It can be used in a basement, or slightly larger room and will be effective depending upon humidity levels and temperature. It is not meant for 3000 sq feet. Over 12 hours of research led me to what I believe is the quietest dehumidifier available, and also the best value based on features versus cost. The Luko 3000 is a small dehumidifier that is transportable. It can be moved from room to room. Be sure to view my previous video on the most accurate hydrometer for tracking and monitoring humidity levels.

    Thank you for this honest review of Luko. It saved me additional hours on researching after watching your video. I purchased one and it IS pretty quiet: white noise compared to the one I purchased at the store. It is aesthetically pleasingly by far! It was only $125. The bigger version was not available, but it work perfectly for my house. 1700+ sq ft. Thanks again!

    I sincerely appreciate you coming back to leave a comment because it not only lets me know I'm on track in terms of meeting the goals of this channel (to save others time, money, and frustration), but more importantly, your positive experience with the Luko dehumidifier, as far as being a quiet dehumidifier and also stylish (features that I exclaimed in the video), will hopefully give others the confidence to try the Luko as well. They no longer just have to take my word for it. LOL!! So thank you for taking the time to leave positive feedback on the video, and the product. Enjoy!

    As an fyi- I'm into another season with the Luko dehumidifier and it's just a "work horse". Outside of a refrigerator, few devices work this much/hard. The fact that this dehumidifier is so quiet is an added bonus, but it allows it to stand out/remain unique from other brands. Thank you for the positive feedback and taking the time to write. I was excited to share this "find" with others (after de-risking it first myself... given it's an unknown brand, the noise level wasn't certain, etc.) and given the time I spent researching low decibel dehumidifiers, it's great to know others are benefiting. Enjoy!

    I'm glad you found the video helpful and I appreciate you leaving the comment and conferring on just how hard it is to find a quiet dehumidifier. After all, that is why I made this video- to share the information after all the hours I spent researching and trying to find a quiet dehumidifier. I think you will be very happy with the Luko dehumidifier. Mine has just completed another season. It's an absolute workhorse- operating 24 hours a day for several months out of the year and just a few hours less during others. Enjoy and thanks again!

    Hi there - throughout your research on the quietest machine, did you ever consider an In-wall unit such as IW25-4 made by Innovative Dehumidifier or were you just researching portable units? The inwall model I mentioned is pretty pricey and is the Cadillac option. Furthermore, you'd need to cut open a wall and have access to electricity, drainage, etc. The juice is worth the squeeze if noise bugs you that much.

  • @efficientway

    @efficientway

    A few things about the Innovative Dehumidifier you mentioned...1) It just says "quiet operation," it doesn't give a decibel rating. Given how large that unit is, with such a large compressor, it's not entirely clear that it would be quiet or "quiet enough." Additionally, it doesn't say whether you can turn off the ionic system. In fact, it implies that it's not an option to turn it off. I have never used the ion system on the Luko 3000 dehumidifier because after researching the subject, I couldn't get comfortable with the whole ozone issues associated with ionization. Aesthetically, I honestly think the Luko 3000 and bigger versions are more pleasing to the eye. It's not just a case of breaking down a wall btw, you need a hollow space to stick the dehumidifier in! Lastly, the Luko is about one-tenth the cost of the one you mentioned. I love the Luko! It is an almost silent dehumidifier (on the low fan setting) and certainly qualifies as a quiet if not the most quiet dehumidifier. It is a work horse! I run the poor little thing for 24 hours a day in the summer and it works for about 8 months straight out of the year. Cleaning the reusable filter is so easy. For the price, the durability, the stylish look, the low level of noise... it's a unique find and a great deal. Even though it's an apples to oranges comparison re: a portable inexpensive dehumidifier like the Luko vs. the Innovative (big, expensive-$1,100.00 with shipping, and built into a wall), I appreciate you bringing it to my attention.

  • @efficientway

    At the time of purchase I did study the Honey Well and HomeLabs dehumidifiers because those brands kept popping up in what I will call "common internet searches". I compared by decibel levels, holding tank size, price, etc. As I mentioned, I searched across blogs, magazine articles, and every KZread video I could find (most were terribly disappointing) to find the quietest dehumidifier on the market. I am highly confident that you will be overly satisfied with the noise level of the Luko 3000 on the low setting. The high setting is tolerable, but the low is REALLY low. As long as you place the Luko dehumidifier in an appropriately sized room (it really shouldn't be larger than 750 square feet in my estimation), you will be very happy with the unit overall if you're looking for an extremely quiet dehumidifier that is reliable and stylish. Thank you for the positive feedback.

    Very glad it was helpful. I likely underestimated the stated amount of time I spent researching and trying to find a quiet dehumidifier. So I'm very happy if others can benefit from the time I spent. As far as the dehumidifier (The Luko 3000), I paid $149 on Amazon. That was back in April, so perhaps it's a seasonal thing? Either way it's a steal at the price you saw (it was great deal comparatively even when for what I paid). Just compare it to other models. The risk was that it was an unknown brand, but that's why I made the video- to de-risk your purchase (and other viewers :-) ! I used it for almost 24 hours a day, for months straight, and had no issues. I can honestly say it was worth every penny. Having a dehumidifier in general made a big difference over the summer months. Having found a super quiet one that was more reasonably priced than the loud noisy ones.... that was a huge win! Thank you for the positive feedback... as I said, it's nice to know the time spent is now helping others.

    You said that it has alarm for when it is full. How loud is the alarm and how many times does it beep before the alarm goes off? We are having a terrible time trying to find a dehumidifier that does not have an alarm that is loud and long enough to wake us up. Our old dehumidifier (that broke after 6 years) did not have an alarm, it just quietly shut off and a light blinked. But now EVERY dehumidifier seems to have an alarm so it appears our best case scenario is finding one that isn't loud and repeating.

  • @efficientway

    @efficientway

    Жыл бұрын

    While the Luko 3000 is arguably the quietest dehumidifier while operating, the "full alarm" is not quiet. It's at least 5 beeps and they are of a decent volume. If you're using the dehumidifier in your bedroom, you will certainly hear the alarm. One option is to dump the basket right before you go to sleep. I do this not just because of the alarm, but to make sure it can run through the night (to do its job) without turning off. If you're just using it in your bedroom, and you start with an empty bucket, there's a very good chance (I have no idea what the conditions are in your dwelling area) that it will be able to run through the night without setting the alarm off until the morning. Especially if you set it to a specific humidity level i.e. 50%, as opposed to "continuous run" where it will just stay on until it is full. It is very intelligent btw... it doesn't just go on and off at the 50% mark like I once feared. It gives itself a bit of wiggle room 1-2% so that it's not constantly turning on and off at the exact 50% level. Again, the ability to run through the night, starting with an empty bucket, will depend upon individual conditions and won't be the same for any two people.

    Thank you for this review. I'm sold because of how quiet it is. One question: You said the unit is 9.5" by 9.5' by 19", but on Amazon, it's listed as 22"D x 25"W x 46"H, which is huge. Can you please confirm the dimensions? Thanks!

  • @efficientway

    @efficientway

    8 ай бұрын

    So the dimensions you see for the Luko 3000 are in Centimeters, not inches. amzn.to/399Azpq I can confirm that the unit is NOT 4 feet tall. It is a small, and extremely quiet de-humidifier (on the low setting). For that reason, just make sure it is appropriate for the space in which you are looking to moderate the humidity. If the humidity levels are very high, i.e. above 65%, it will struggle to bring down the humidity levels to 50% in a 2000 square foot space for example. But, it is a work horse, and again, it is the quietest dehumidifier.

  • @efficientway

    @efficientway

    Жыл бұрын

    When you press the "Hum Set" button on the Luko dehumidifier, it should change and cycle through the different levels each time you push it. If the tank is full it will just stay on a number so make sure the tank is empty and the tank is pushed in all the way. If that isn't the issue, you can try pressing the "Cont" button which will just keep running the dehumidifier (regardless of the current indoor humidity) and then switch back by pressing the "Hum Set". Or press the "CONT" button, shut off the machine. Wait a minute or so and press the power button again. Wait for it to start and then press the "Hum Set" and try to cycle through. A hard reset would entail shutting the power button off and unplugging the unit from the power outlet. Let it rest a few minutes and then plug it back in. Also, make sure you're not looking at the temperature as opposed to the humidity. "80" is more likely temperature vs. humidity.

  • @efficientway

    The Luko 3000 dehumidifier is still going strong. I don't take it for granted given that I use it 9-10 months a year and most days it's either running 23 hours a day or about 20 hours. Keep in mind, I use the "continuous" feature rather than the humidity setting. So the dehumidifier will stay on until the water container is full, at which point it automatically shuts off. Before I learned that the Luko dehumidifier allows for some variance (plus or minus a few percent) from the humidity setting, I was concerned about the dehumidifier turning on and off at my exact setting, i.e. 50% relative humidity. Even with that feature, it would probably turn on and off several times a day, whereas in my case, it is always on, regardless of how low the humidity falls (42-43% is usually the lowest I see). I chose to operate the Luko dehumidifier this way knowing what I know about window air conditioners and how turning them on and off wears out the compressor faster. I used the same logic with the Luko, so it's possible that this has extended the life of my dehumidifier. As far as the low noise level dehumidifier, I haven't noticed a difference. So either it hasn't changed on the low setting or I've gotten used to it, but I'm pretty sure it's the same. On the high setting, you will hear it. The fan drawing the air in is running at a higher speed. The dehumidifier is still operating a lower decibel rating than other dehumidifiers, and at the low speed, the Luko is the quietest dehumidifier I have seen. Do keep in mind, this is a relatively small unit and will work in a 500-800 square foot area depending upon how open the room is (vs. the same square footage spread over several rooms). As for the water container, I've had zero issues and I don't expect any given that it is a thick plastic, there are no delicate pieces, and I'm not exactly overly gentle with it (with zero issues thus far). As far as maintenance, I should clean the filters more often, though I don't know how great a job they do anyway. I only clean them once a year. Finally, I do not use the Ionizer function on the dehumidifier because the research I did (general, not specific to the Luko model) suggests that ionizers produce ozone.
