The recording process looks awesome, but I want to know the archiving / cataloging & retrieval process on my desktop is hassle free - that's the video I want to see

Is the remote cable a special one? Or standard audio stereo cable? Im trykbgtto use my kenwood r1000 with my dar101

I am not sure. I used that dictation machine years ago, perhaps 2014 or so, and foe a few months. I will try to research that for you in a while, but my first guess is that it offers a small hole connector input jack not unlike those found on phones, perhaps even two, one for listening and one for microphone like on PCs, if not those, then it may have the larger hole jack used in music studios. Even if not those it may offer RCA left and right channel inputs, but I doubt it. Or it might even include all of those options. I will take a look at the video again to see if it jogs my memory.

Check out the picture of the front and the back sides, and take a carefullook at the connections. Looks like the front side has the large holes for microphones, and the back side has the smaller holes like for headsets. Sorry that it's not very clear. There may be a user's manual out there, perhaps on the Sargean website. www.sangean.com/products/product.asp?mid=166

the maximum bit rate this piece of crap can record at is 192 kbps. can't do WAV/AIFF, can't do 320 kbps. what a complete waste of money. absolute garbage, unless all you're going to use it for is voice recording. and even then, 192 kbps is barely passable.

Does this still work? I f not do you remember how long it lasted?

I don't know. It was a device for a psychiatric doctor to take notes. But then I got him to try out Audacity, and he preferred that over this machine. Perhaps he still has it stored away in a drawer somewhere doing nothing.
