Because of all the flooding, and hurricanes the averages home insurance is about $6,000, so some people are getting hit twice as much as $12,000 since they are near the coast. Is it true?

True, the insurance prices have gone up. In this case, and most new home construction, the price for insurance is the least expensive compared to an existing home because of the new building codes and the method of building. The prices for owners of existing homes has become very expensive. My opinion is that new home construction is your best bet for the lowest insurance cost. Let me know if I can help you further.
