You can buy button hole elastic. It already has the holes in it so you don't have to make them.

But what about these Zig zag pattern doesn't it look weard

No need to do all extra work, if the jeans is loose, js make small slits on the waist at the back on the inner side n add the elastic, then sew it n sew the slits closed. This is what I did n it helped alot.

That is what I have done to all my jeans. Didn’t need the a Elastic all the way around..
