Dear Diana, I have wanted to study art since I was a child, but it didn't happen. I'm over 40 now and I'm unimaginably grateful that I can finally learn how to paint, I can't imagine a better teacher. You are an amazing teacher! The technical basics you teach help me see better, observe better, think better in every exercise. I'm less frustrated that due to a lack of technical knowledge, I can't paint the picture the way I want. All lessons are beneficial for me, however, would you recommend some instructions on how to go through your quick types? Or do you think it basically doesn't matter? Thank you very much for sharing valuable knowledge, experience and skills.

Petra Lo, currently we have filmed and posted over 300 Quick Tips in random order as we base these on viewer's requests. Roger, our producer, has put together a list which you can find under Community on our channel page ( kzread.info/dron/JErPSUwVOXzRYDC4kWejnw.html ) I think the best way to study them is to go to that list and choose the ones whose titles address your need. We also have hour-long video tutorials at diannemize.com .

Why did not any of my teachers teach in the 17 units i took of art? My god how frustrating to learn i spent all that time and learned very little. Just a studio and a sink to clean up. Sad. We were left to our devices so much! One teacher put desks in a circle and i guess that was his best input. Love you tube and this teacher is the most complete in explaining. A person can figure it out but a quick exercise just to test out stuff speeds up things a lot or get you over being stumped

Thank you Dianne! Brush techniques is something I need more practice with. I always have a fear of thin lines....what if that last whisker on the cat turns out to be a 'thin line disaster' and wrecks the whole painting? It might not be the brush....it's probably the brush technique! Thanks again for your useful tips!

The teacher's role is to guide and to give clarity to the process. If I can do that, I've done my job.

Dear Diane. Greetings from the UK. Would you be able to do a quick tip talking about the different tube whites (titanium white, zinc white etc) and explain their different functions. Thank you very much for your marvellous channel and website. I have learnt a great deal from you

@IntheStudioArtInstruction
3 жыл бұрын
Ditch the fear. It has no place in your painting, besides it is nothing but a thought anyway.
I definitely end up over loading brush big time!

Awareness is the key here.
Another great tip Dianne! Thank you :) I notice you use Rosemary and Co. brushes, do you have your own set with them?
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
3 жыл бұрын
No, Mona. I have just the ones that I use on a regular basis.
Love the video .✨This brush looks very fine on the canvas. Is it a rosemry &co brand? Is it sable hair? I want to buy it and try it on the next painting.
@IntheStudioArtInstruction

That particular brush is a Rosemary 274 short flat. I'm leaning more and more towards using Rosemary brushes exclusively.
Thanks for this lession!! Do you ever rinse out brushes with soap and water? Or just use Gamsol to clean? Also what is Rosemary 274 brush? Thanks again!
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
2 жыл бұрын
Carolyn, my usual routine is to soak my brushes in Murphy's Oil soap, then rinse them with water.
Its fine to stroke more for the first part of painting. I dont use medium except poppy oil and thats at the end. My goal is to then apply paint in one stroke placements for the end not dab dab or swipe then correct…
@IntheStudioArtInstruction

Good goal.
Hi Dianne. As usual, I found your video helpful. Can you tell me the make of the easel you're using? Do you use it for plein air too, or is it too heavy for that? Thanks!
@IntheStudioArtInstruction
3 жыл бұрын
It is the Sienna Pochade box easel, one of the first they made. Yes, I use it for plein air painting, too. It is the most sturdy portable easel I've ever used, and I've gone through at least three French easels over the years.
