Dave, you do an incredible job on showing us to actually play these songs. The idea that you take so much time to do the instruction show that you really enjoy teaching. I wish other 'so called' instructors would do the same. Sometimes to me, they just want to show how well they can play a certain song. But that's because they don't really know how to instruct. GREAT WORK!!!

To each their own but some people, like me, prefer quick videos. This riff is one you just need someone to play once and you should be able to repeat it. I understand not everyones the same though
Still keep coming back to these vids.
this is the only lesson I've seen so far where he plays it exactly like the song

Kyle Thomas nicely done
You got some nice bass in your video. 1:30 AM and I was thinking it was my neighbours, asking me to lover the volume, by bashing the wall.
You made this lesson as helpful as humanly possible...played along to the record...slowed it down...broke it down...added embellishments. After two hours practice I can play along to the recording, which is a whole lot of funky fun. Thanks brother.

Dave you are no longer with us. Makes me really sad 😢 Thank you for all the great lessons. One day we will jam together on the other side. See you there.
This is the only guy that covers it right! Great!
Great lesson, very detailed, that's the way to capture the full spirit of this tune.
Thanks Dave. Love nile rogers and learning his great riffs thanks to your great tutorials.

Dude that strat sounds awesome
I leaned this from you ages ago before the world went crazy - really great lesson. Thank you, Dave. Have just come back to it after putting together a dance compilation that I'm still attempting to get my missus to shake her booty too. Not successful yet...but I'll try and woo her by playing this iconic funk riff. Cheers, Dave, and thanks.

thanks, i'll be looking for your interpretation of al green's classic song, like other u tubers. keep it coming.
🤛 YOU ~ ROCK ! ! 🎸
awesome !
I just watched eight KZread clowns trying to "teach" this riff, and none had it right. Congrats on being the only one to do it properly. Just as a friendly suggestion, try adding the "E" at your 7th fret, 5th string, to your initial Am7, above a complete 6-string barre at the 5th fret. This is how Nile Rogers does it. Search "Chic Feat. Nile Rogers 'Le Freak' Live at Eden Sessions 2013" and check 0:26. Awesome job, sir.
Hi Dave, thanks for that. IMHO the best Le Freak-how to so far - although I still don't get the strummimg pattern quite right. It sometimes looks like continuesly 16th strumming up and down (when you play it slow) but when I play like that the rhythm somewhat doesn't sound right.

Ekkix Thanks. It’s a bit of an illusion. The strumming hand moves constantly but is not always connecting with the strings.
This riff is very easy...to play bad! At least, a perfect demonstration! THANKS!
Cool.
dave think able love and happiness by al green in your future u tube lessons. this lesson is excellent. thanks.

Hey Dave,I just started like 3 months ago. This is one of my favourite guitar riffs ever, it looks quite doable. Do you think I should give it a shot? I don't want to get into something thats too difficult for me at the moment.

Hi Milan. Save this one for later on once you have more experience. It’s quite a tricky riff to get right.

Cécile Ignace Thanks. You can access my tabs via my Patreon page.
the A note on the seventh fret sounds very different on my guitar, i didnt mess up the tuning, dont know why that happens, almost sounds like a higher note rather than lower
@DavePriceGuitarist
7 жыл бұрын
If you have old strings the intonation can go out of tune as you go up the neck. Another possibility is it is fretting out on a higher fret. Hope that helps

That's right. American Deluxe HSS. The pickups are the original ones that came with the guitar.

+chokicou Thanks. Maybe experiment with your amp settings. Try taking off some bass or mid if you want it to sound sharper. I find that usually does the trick.
how do you play the instrumental bit?
