Hello. Chris Konkle here. Just to give you a heads up. If you click on any of the links in my video descriptions or on my website, you will be led to Amazon. I am an associate and will receive a commission on any purchases you make. My goal is to make it easy. For people who do not know what real contractors use for tools, personal protective equipment, equipment, services or any other procured items. Also, easy for experienced trades people by having all the items neatly organized and grouped together for quick and easy purchasing. There are millions of different products available out there. I only promote those that I have either personally used or have fully researched and believe they will deliver value to you.
It takes a lot of time and money from myself to bring you all the free content. Our message is to master construction and be an industry leader. Then you can train other workers to be quality trades people that value organization and leadership and use problem solving to ensure project success. This message promotes good ethics and practices in both business and work.

    Thank you. We need more videos like this. I just wish that Lowes and Home Depot had more to offer when it comes to metal studs. There is a lot of great ideas on construction on KZread but our local stores have very little to offer.

    That's okay, there is most likely a drywall supply house close by that you can get it. Just google drywall supplier for your area and see what pops up. They will have everything drywall, metal stud of all sizes, gauge, any height, drywall, insulation, drywall compound and everything taping. They will also have ceiling grid, tools and equipment all related the trade. Let me know if you need help finding a place👍

    Hi, how do you attach and seal vapor barrier on metal stud

  • @ConstructionKronies

    Yes good question. What I do is use framing screws. I take the tabs from some drywall, screw the wafers through them and cut them so there's like a washer just little squares of the drywall tabs. Also I use 4"x4" pieces of drywall to initially hang the poly at the top with 1-1/4" drywall screws get it hung with those screw it off, caulk it and then rake those pieces of drywall off. Tape it up all done.

    Hi Chris, great videos. I watched many of them as I gear up to tackle a project in my house: wood stove alcove. Quick question. My ceilings are just over 9 feet. I bought 10 foot steel studs. I need to cut them to length but discovered that the place I need to cut them is near or through a knockout. Is that permitted? How do I handle this situation? Thanks

  • @ConstructionKronies

    @ConstructionKronies

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes it is perfectly normal to have a cut at a Knockout, if you want to avoid that cut some off the bottom then cut your length, I do this sometimes to keep the strength. Either way just keep the knockouts at the same elevations to run wires or channel.

    Just cut a steel stud, measure the length for.brace then add 4 to 6" on both ends cut the side flanges only bend one end in and fasten to structure them bend the other end the other way and attach to wall. Hope that helps..

    In the end, I noticed a horizontal metal going between the studs holes. Is this a type of bracing ?

  • @ConstructionKronies

    @ConstructionKronies

    8 ай бұрын

    Sort of, it's called carrying channel, acts as a wall stiffener and holds the insulation up in the wall. We put it in every 4' at the knockouts when the wall is insulated or you can put 1 run through the middle of short walls if it's only needed to stiffen (keep the studs square)

  • @MatthewBester
    @MatthewBester5 ай бұрын

    I noticed no horizontals? Doesn't the metal stud need noggins? Not sure what they are called in US.

    Best way is to go through a local drywall supply house like Foundation Building Material or Brock White. I don't recommend going to a box store like Home Depot for them because the have extremely limited stock.

Just keep watching and ask questions along the way. Be a good worker and in 5 years time you'll be all set to go out on your own if that's what you want or be a foreman even.
