Quick Look : Kaweco Brass Sport (F)

Kaweco makes a whole bunch of pens and pencils around the same design i.e. the Classic Sport, mostly in plastic but also in metals e.g. brass, steel, aluminum. My favorite is the one they make in brass i.e. the Brass Sport. Brass is a beautifully warm material. Over time, it develops a patina that brings character to a pen and makes it feel like it belongs to you. Looks better than scratches on a plastic pen!
Paper used was Clairefontaine 80gsm.
This is a well built, designed pen that writes well and is also a dependable writer. The feed especially needs calling out - it writes everytime I pull it out. My only cons with the pen are the price and the fact that it was made probably more heavy than it needed to be. There are clones, so be aware what you buy.

Koweco brass is the top of the rock !!!
Hearing those birds chirping in the background makes me miss Singapore… then a plane pass by, ahh yes Singapore…
Thanks for this review. I saw your's and Hemingway Jones" review, and I ended up getting a Kaweco Brass Sport in Fine. I liked it so much that after a while I ended up getting another one in XFine !!! They have become the favorite pens that I use everyday to journal with. Thanks for your wonderful review.

In the past 3 months, I have accumulated 3 Kaweco Brass Sports. In XFine, Fine, and Medium, and these pens have become my favorite daily journaling pens. All 3 of them worked very well right out of the box, and the performance of all three has been superb.
Sheaffer's developed their lever filler in 1911 as well. 😁 I have a selection of pocket pens, but no Kaweco ones, yet. Most of them are definitely not that useable without posting. Most of mine are vintage "ladies" or "vest pocket" ones, so a little closer to the plastic Sport than the brass. (One eyedropper filler one is the size of an international standard short ink cartridge, uncapped, so not easy to use without the hands of a child. 😁) Kaweco ones are kind of the iconic pocket pen, today. As much as I like the look of the brass, I am still not willing to pay the price of one, yet. The plastic Sport is a more realistic price, for me, but I am still holding out for the promised piston filler version, which the owner of Kaweco said should be out within a year. I use bottled ink (cheaper per mL), and the hassle of refilling cartridges doesn't appeal to me, and the converters for the Sport are kind of laughably small. Of course, if I can get a vintage Kaweco V16 for less, that's the route I'd personally take. 😁 Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this iconic pocket pen!

Too small for my taste as I don't like their tiny converters. I will get one if they release the piston filled version. 😊
I hate Kaweco Sports, but wouldn’t mind owning this Brass variant if it was more affordable.. Interesting that you didn’t choose those Pilot Elites for comparison.. Don’t you own them anymore ?

The Elites are about the same length as the Stella 90s/Stargazer. I don't think of them as a pocket pen per se as they feel very grown up and once it is posted it feels like a full sized pen. I also chose the Stella 90s because of the brass vs brass comparison.
I am planning to get one ..i would appreciate if you can which nib size i should go for fine or extra fine as i am sure medium must be oozing more then i need … Thanks

Its really difficult to give a nib recommendation without knowing how small you write, your ink choice and even your notebook choice. I would say the F is similar to a Pilot FM. The EF can be a bit hit and miss - my EFs actually write very fine - very close to a Pilot EF. I don't find Kawecos being super wet, even my B is very well behaved. Hope that helped!
