Quick Hits #5 - The Lindenwood Diner, The Hole & The Burial of the 3 Capos. On location in East Ny.

Ойын-сауық

We visit the neighborhood known as “The Hole”, A disarrayed, low lying area on the Brooklyn/Queens border. This area had the reputation of being a Gambino burial ground and was once the location of Alphonse “Sonny Red” Indelicato, Dominick Trinchera and Philip Giaccone. The 3 Bonnano Capos who were murdered on May 5th,1981 were buried in The Hole after being handed over to John Gotti’s crew. Before that, we make a quick stop to The Lindenwood Diner for a chat about an event that happened there.
Rest In Peace to all the victims who have lost their lives due to crime. The events that are discussed in these videos are not an attempt to glorify, but to look at NYC Crime from a historical perspective. May the victims families find strength in remembrance of their loved ones.

I was a plainclothes cop in the 75th pct which covered these areas back from ‘83-‘88. I was in the Lindenwood Diner so many times and saw many mafia guys. One day my partner needed a side mirror for his car and we went to the local junkyard. Yup the one owned by Charles Carniglia. He saw us come in, immediately knew we were cops and all I remember is the blackness of his eyes. There was nothing behind those eyes and it was probably the only time in my life I was so scared I wanted to leave. Good job fellas.

Thank you for your service. I grew up in Detroit but moved to Queens “ Flushing” called Frushig because of all the Chinese and Koreans and did a little touring of the Mob areas. I ended up in Law Enforcement in San Diego and worked at the international border and South East San Diego.

Yes I worked at the precinct the same time as Mike Dowd and Kenny Eurell. I could write so much on what those guys, and others were doing during those times. Everyone stayed clear of them and figured the department’s internal affairs would catch them, but it didn’t happen until after I had left. Dowd single handedly ruined the careers of quite a few cops that happened to just work in the same precinct as him. None of those cops were the least bit dirty or compromised. I don’t even know if he knew or cared. As for Kenny spoke to him a few years ago after the documentary came out. He was a big enough and repentant person to apologize.

The 3 capos were buried on ruby street the block that you didn’t walk down because it was flooded. The 2 Lots you filmed neither of them were the lots. It’s in the middle of ruby in between Blake & dumont there is no fence anymore just cement blocks to prevent people from backing in vehicles and dumping trash. The lot was used for a carting company to store their roll off dumpsters. You were so close but it’s understandable because of the ground water. I lived in that neighborhood for 25 years on sutter & forbellllll I was still residing in the area while the whole FBI treasure hunt was taking place. The funny thing is the house I lived in was the home of Vincent assaro and his father & grandfather and family home back in the late 40’s early 50’s. You can find the address in the book about the assaro trial for the Lufthansa case plus there is a article about Vincent’s father getting arrested and has his address listed as 1484 sutter Brooklyn ny 11208. ✌🏻

Never liked what they did to his neighbor John. It was an accident. The guy stayed with him till the ambulance came and did the right thing. I know they say his wife told him to do it, but Gotti, being the psychopath that he is, was gonna do it anyway. Just a regular guy who did nothing wrong was brutally murdered because of Gotti’s reckless kid. And then his poor family had to suffer. Great video btw!! I love the up close look to these places. Especially knowing I’ll never be able to see it in person.

I know exactly where the Lindenwood diner is because I lived in Howard Beach since 1979 and I know of that spot it’s on the borderline of Brooklyn next to a shopping center And across the street is what they call the hole and you had the black cowboys down there. Don’t forget the sausage guy who operated on 79th St. and Linden Boulevard he still there today Sammy the bull had a club in Brooklyn called the Plaza Suite which I used to go to. The place they called the hole is always full of water and flooded.

The reason why Sonny Red was found is because they wanted to give his family the respect so they could have a proper wake and burial. True story. And Sonnys son Bruno seen John Gotti and Ang. Ruggiero on the highway and started shooting at them. Sonny had a lot of power and would have took over the family.
