I followed this and it worked! I found that I could get that collar cap from Amazon. Thank you so much!

Right on! You are welcome! I added the link in the description if anyone else wants to order one.
Do you need to take the pressure off of the filters prior to detaching the salt cell??
I just used saran wrap and a rubber band. I folded it 4 times to make it thicker. Worked great.

That's smart. That's likely what I will do when I don't have Ryan's plug here
THANKS@!!!!
Thank you for the helpful video. I am preparing to clean my Jandy salt cell for the first time and this was helpful. For what it is worth, Jandy's instructions mention that the sensor plug (the one with the cord coming out of it) should be removed for the cleaning as the acid may damage the sensor. As your guy does this for a living and I've just watched a video or two, however, removing the sensor plug certainly may be overkill.

Good insight! I imagine if it was catastrophic damage then he would have learned to remove the sensor plug a long time ago as you mentioned. Feel free to remove it to be safe, but you should be fine

Very Important: Remove the cover holding the 3 terminals and inspect the rubber O-rings. These can harden over time, leak and short the connection, resulting in a melted plug and corroded terminals.
What was the cap that he used? Looks like a Jandy union and some sort of cap.
So what is the story on the custom cap used so that he could pour the mix into the cell? Thanks in advance

I had the same question. I looked into it and you can use part # R0523000. It’s a Jandy drain cap used for their pool filter it also fits their salt cell.
I cant get one of the unions on my salt cell lose, ive tried filter pliers and one side wont come off for me to clean it. Its on so tight from the last owner that when i do try to turn the union the entire salt cell turns!? I have the same jandy pro series...any suggestions? Grease? I dont know😢

I hate to hear that! Please keep us posted with what you figure out. Leverage and a proper grab on the two pieces are going to be key. I'm not sure if a silicone lubricant would help or not, but worth spraying some to see. Just don't get it on the outside and cause additional slippage
I bought the cap in the description and it doesn’t fit my Jandy aquapure

Really? Is yours the same as mine? I've seen a lot of people buying it and have not seen a return
Cannot see what type of wrench you use. Where to get it?

It's a filter wrench 😊 hope this helps
How did he build that plug?

There is a link in the video description of one that has been working for lots of people
I think the recommendation is to dilute the acid with water 4:1. It looks like this adds straight muriatic acid. This might shorten the life of the salt cell.

At around 3:45 you can see him add water to around 50%. He is closer to 2:1

You're right. I missed that
How much is the cost for that service. Expensive?

For a salt cell cleaning? I'm not sure what professionals charge for it, my guy did it as a part of his biweekly service. I pay $90 every other week for them to keep the pool perfect all year long. It's a 5 minute job, but I imagine a service call specifically for this would be around $100 since gas, drive time, etc. Try it yourself if you are hands on
Can we buy one of those caps?

Apologize for the late reply. I see people buying this on my Amazon store and not returning it. It must work out. Someone let us know! amzn.to/3TR1yOR
Just use a #12 freeze plug. I know you west coast guys don’t close pools so freeze plugs are not in your toolbox.

Good to know. I added a product that works in the description. I'm in NC and don't close my pool
