I thought my garden lanterns needed to be trashed but I watched your video today and immediately put your technique to work. The 8 lid panels were completely blocked with a coating. I used an 800 grit sandpaper, dish soap, water, alcohol and after drying I used clear coat. Thank you so much! They look perfect!

watched your video today and utilized 1000, 2000, & 3000 grit paper, clearcoated 2 coats afterwards, made 20 lamps look/function like new again. Thanks for the video tip

This is really a problem in Australia. Sunlight in the southern hemisphere is 7 to 10 percent stronger than similar latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere. I would be prepared to spend more for solar lights if they were glass instead plastic.

Can we spray it with clear coat out the box brand new to prevent the yellowing and damage? Or it won't really make a difference? Also how long does this last? Or will it be something we need to do several times? Is there a product we can possibly use to prevent this damage? Thanks! Really enjoyed the video.

It’s has protectant on it out of the box . It just wears off over time from elements. The glass ones work better. But the plastic this will happen.

Nice. Some of my lights were full of water. Can I silicone around the panel edges to keep water out?

This is a great helpful video but before you do all that please open up the battery compartment and make sure it's not rusted and corroded sometimes you will even find that the red or black wire has broken away from rust

For new coat and shiny look yes. But good to remove to damaged layer first so solar panels get the most light

Ok. Most of this is good advice, but that clear coat is UV resistant. I tried this. All of my landscaping light solar cells looked wonderful! The problem - they didn't charge. Do NOT use this clear paint. As stated, it is UV resistant and doesn't allow proper charging of the batteries. I damaged all of my lights in the process.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. But its ok i bought all new for our entire landscaping. My solar lighwas 5 yrs old. So i cant complain the new solar light's are so much nicer and better made.❤

agree on that. its possible after so long batteries were bad, or got wet inside. 5 years is a nice run though.

Not to be an "eco-warrior" but if you can spend 10 minutes cleaning your old solar panels you are doing a good part in helping reduce waste.
