Quick and Easy Layout Benchwork

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I demonstrate how to build quick and easy layout benchwork. I am building a small shelf-style staging yard for a portion of my layout. Today I am constructing the benchwork for that staging yard. Though this section is small, this process would work for a variety of layouts for your model railroad benchwork.

    Great video and tool tips as I am just now starting my very similar around the room layout using those same brackets, 1/2" ply and 1/2" foam base. Will definitely watch this another few times!

    Ron. Have you thought about hanging sheets from the ceiling around your track to enclose the area when you are not using it to help keep dust down? You could also use a sheet around your helix to help hide it and also keep the dust off the track.

    That would certainly work well. That's what I would do if I were building something that I was going to scenic and not just a staging area.

    Hi there, I am looking for tips in regards to running 2 continuous loops on my not yet built N gauge... Due to a severe lack of space, I am looking at a max size base size of 130cm X 65cms. It is DC and I was hoping to be able to run 2 trains in opposite directions on two tracks..... no specific location and no switching yard I am hoping to acquire a morley 2 track DC controller in order to run the locos Thanks

    Hi Ron , how can I take off some spray paint brístle of my track that I’ve accidentally put on while paint my diorama and is no-ox Id is safe? Thanks

    To remove spray paint you will need to use some sort of solvent like lacquer thinner, but use it sparingly on a cloth and carefully. As for no-ox, it is very safe.

    You commented about the downsloped angle but I must have missed what you did to get the top flat. Can you tell me the best way to flatten the top? I doubt if you just muscled it but maybe???

  • @RonsTrainsNThings

    @RonsTrainsNThings

    Actually, I did just muscle it. If you're not comfortable with that, however, you could use a shim on the back side of the cleat if you use a wood cleat like I did.
