When navigating life as queer women, it is often we are confronted with some really ridiculous questions, especially from straight men. For this episode, we asked all of you to submit some of the most common questions you have been asked as a lesbian or queer woman. We are going to be talking through these submissions and... yall, some of these questions are WILD! It is 2024... why are people still talking like this??!

With each question I was just "oh shit" a bit louder than the previous. I really like the idea of asking straight couples if they are sure of their feelings. And if not, why should it be different for queer people. Might provoke some thinking. I also loved the moment you both looked at the camera to address things with the heart. Very good job at being firm yet kind, sharing your experience, all the while keeping excellent boundaries. Like Christine, I am a christian too, and resonate with her observation that people will twist anything to justify their hate. It's a painful thing to experience and see. So it's like Christine says, that whole thing needs to be revisited! On that line, projects like @theReformationProject are adding incredible depth to the conversation. Love their youtube chanel

Absolutely 1000% to everything you said! This was an episode we wanted to introduce more serious topics about the queer experience as this is something we will be diving into a lot more through this podcast. I hope that people can either find community through these conversations but also people who might not identify as queer can find a little insight as to how to make others feel more comfortable. Thank you so much for listening! We will check out the podcast you recommended!!

@@onairplanemode__ you are definitely adding to the breath of perspectives in conversation. Especially as you remain with such poise in how you are speaking to very difficult things you experience. Huge clap for the great attitude. In a world full of loud voices in polarised opinions, assertive and kind dialogue is missing like water to people in a desert ❤️

I was talking to a dad friend of mine who confided in me that his daughter is gay and he was struggling. He is very religious and he couldn't sort it out in his own mind. I let him talk about it for a while (10-15 mins). He then said, "I can't believe she chose this lifestyle," I asked him if he really thought it was a choice? He said yes. Now, understand this is my best friend and I don't want to lose his friendship, but I asked him, "when did you choose to be straight?" I can honestly say it stopped his thinking completely. Two siblings in my family are gay as are at least three nieces. I can wholeheartedly say, it is certainly not a choice. Donald Trump was convicted of 34 countss making him a felon. He will still become our next President, why, in this country, would anyone choose to be queer in any of its forms?

Cost, just to have kids - not even raising them, is substantially higher for LGBT couples. Either a large time cost in the case of public adoption, or a massive financial cost in the case of IVF and surrogacy. It's an added barrier for sure.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for watching this episode! It’s sad most people in the LGBT community experience these questions especially women as they are constantly eroticized. We hope at LEAST one person watches this and feels less alone when asked these questions and at least one person learns to change their language when asking questions like this
