I believe the reason Zeke was unable to remember anything was because, at the time Mick got into his cab, he had not gone into the cave which is where he went into the Glow. Since he hasn't experienced it, he can't have memories of it. I think Cal was chosen for a number of reasons. Being so young, (and I believe he was the youngest passenger on board) he still had his innocence. For a long time he'd been sick with a horrible disease and endured a medical treatment that is just as bad as the disease it aims to cure. This made him resilient as well as compassionate and empathetic to the suffering of others . It also made him very aware and appreciative of how precious life is. I believe he was aged up by whatever power was behind it all to test him further. Innocence and goodness as a child comes more naturally in most cases. But even at an older age, and after everything he'd been through, where it would have been natural for him to act out or rebel, he still remained quite innocent and good. So much so, that Olive was shocked when he said the word "shit." And his response when she said "You said 'shit'!" was "Don't tell Dad." And this was two full years after he'd aged up. The person who was going to save the world had to be as innocent as possible in order to tip the scales enough to make up for all the sins of the others. It could only be Cal.

I read it as the world being rebooted. The people that died/sacrificed themselves like Cal but also Zeke don't remember/ go back to spawn. The passengers that made it through get to keep inventory.

I think they were a random selection (representative of different people) to test humanity and see if the universe would bend towards justice. They proved to the divine that humanity although in a crisis state and capable of doing horrible things, the majority of people will still choose good and we haven’t lost hope in humanity. Kal as a kid had a natural innocence and “goodness” so he was essentially already the most “enlightened” out of the group. It’s all connected could even be about them; they random passengers were connected to the entire human population (they were the tests that represented humanity). That’s what I think at least 😂

i have a theory for why cal came back as a grown up when they first went in the glow they didn't age even a day. maybe when cal cal went into the glow again it cancelled the effect and came back of the age he would have been if the plane didn't disappear

And the original captain, what happened to him when he reappeared and disappeared again.

What I don't understand is why they weren't all judged as one, like the "Methheads." Did I miss something in regards to that.

for me, the passengers represents the different categories of humans and what they do or how they live. within the passengers, we have a scientist, a doctor, a policewoman, a regular dad, a sick kid, a bad husband. i think they represent each sectors of life. as the passengers were the ones who were judged for each sector if the Divine will destroy the earth or not.
