it'd be really cool to talk with a SLP who is POC, and a SLP who has worked abroad! This is very interesting because when I think of this field is it primarly filled with white, cis-women.

Yes, that would be very cool! We look forward to the opportunity to talk with other SLPs and listen to their experiences. Thanks for your comment 😊

This video was really interesting. I’m a male undergrad CSD Major freshmen and I’ve only seen one other male in the program so far (I’m the only one in my NSSHLA group that I know of). It can feel a little isolating but I’m glad that there isn’t a big stigma or fear against men in the field. I want to work in schools too so it’s nice to see that I won’t have to work differently due to my gender.

As an incoming grad student (this summer yay!) I have been loving your content! I really enjoyed listening to this episode. Would you guys please consider having other minorities in the field as guest in your podcast such as women of color or latinas? Also, tips on how you studied for your grad program (weekly content and exams), how you studied for the PRAXIS, and how you build relationships at your different placements. Thanks your sharing!

I watched all your videos about graduate schools and the different paths you can take to become an SLP, however maybe you guys can give me some advice. I figured out I want to do speech pretty late in undergrad (i'll be graduating in December) so I'll be coming out with a marketing degree. I know I have to take some pre-reqs like a biology class etc., but I also need to take all the required classes regarding speech to apply to grad school. Do you know any post bac programs for this? Or grad programs that include post-bacs? I've been researching sooo much but it's so surprisingly hard to find!!

Thank you so much for watching! We really appreciate it! Maybe you can try googling "speech therapy post baccalaureate program"? I know most post bacc programs are associated with a master's program, so I'm sure when you go through the program you can apply to that same school and have an easier chance of getting in. I don't know of many programs that have them combined. They usually are separate, but I do know some people who have gone through the Chapman University post-bacc/master's program. So you can look into that! (:

Hello Lauren... I was actually in your spot not that long ago. I have a bachelors in education and was in the search of a post bac program to complete my prerequisites for grad school. I did my prerequisites through Northern Arizona University. They have the option for in person, in Flagstaff, Arizona, or completely online. I did it completely online because that was best for me at the time. It is good quality education and they also do offer a masters degree in the field. I will be starting their grad program this summer 😊

Hello, I’m also interested in going to the field of Speech-Language Pathology and I’m also a male going into a female-dominated field. I actually have the interest to do what Matthew does and I would love to find a way to contact him and learn more about his specialty in the Speech-Language Pathology field. If there is a way we can contact each other that would be great. Thank you!
