60s70sVintageRock, I would really love to say a very huge thank you for uploading this awesome clip on to KZread. I've loved this song for such a long time, and I've never been able to find any footage of Question Mark & The Mysterians performing this fantastic song until now. This song truly rocks, and please continue to upload whatever beautiful songs you have and can find.

@Adam Hepburn You're very welcome! See the description under the video... I had to fix the link and hopefully it will work... there's a newer performance you might like. You'll need to enter a pw on the page to see it. (I couldn't post it on YT because of copyright restrictions.) I've pretty much uploaded all old vids I had, 8 or 9 years ago, but I always keep my eyes open for any good stuff! Thank you for your nice comment!!

@@torvilasulvstle362you obviously have great taste in music. This song truly rocks without a doubt, and you spending a lot of your hard-earned money on singles and LPs is also what I did during both my teenage years and my young adult years. I spent a lot of my money on albums by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks and so many other great singers and bands from the '60s and later. Rock on, buddy!!

It's fascinating that this band's music was influenced by Mexican American Tejano music. The Tejano influence can be heard in their whirling keyboard runs and beats. The band members were children of migrant farmers who settled in Michigan.

These guys were from Mexico, immigrant families. Singer lived in Texas awhile, then family moved north to Michigan & work. Not too many more hits, but 96 Tears was on top for weeks. Ninety six tears blear's out of a tube radio in a 55 chevy was the life. Never knew where it came from, just it was there, when there was nothing.

Wikipedia - ? and the Mysterians (or Question Mark and the Mysterians) are an American garage rock band[6] from Bay City and Saginaw in Michigan, initially active between 1962 and 1969. Much of the band's music consisted of electric organ-driven garage rock and an enigmatic image inspired by the 1957 Japanese science fiction film The Mysterians.[7] In addition, the band's sound was also marked by the raw, resonating lead vocals of "?" (Question Mark, the stage name of Rudy Martínez),[2][3][4] making Question Mark and the Mysterians one of the earliest groups whose musical style is described as punk rock. Their music and imagery were highly influential on later bands.[8] ? and the Mysterians Origin Bay City and Saginaw, Michigan, U.S.

This was the coolest song of those days with "Wooly Bully" and "Louie Louie" Thought these were all "bad boy" garage bands, and cooler than we'd ever be. But "96 Tears" seemed most polished and stripped down. Dances where they played this still reverberate. I can almost visualize the place and the feel that vibe now. Seems simple but these guys knew exactly how to roll it.

Q mark and the mysterians are from Saginaw, Michigan home also to another legend Stevie Wonder wh was born n the north side of the same city. Question mark like many others started in a small garage on the east side of Saginaw, Michigan, making a name for themselves very quickly, they were just part of the neighborhood, blue collar just like most of the Mexican population that traveled north mostly from Texas to work in the GM, ford and chevrolet plants. My dad remembers going to the same garage to hang out. Today they still play there songs, one member is actually part of my family! great memories!

9/2023.........I was 13 in 1966,........I'm a couple months away from turning 70. I remember being forced to take "teenager" dance lessons, when this tune came out. I loved the music, but hated the dance lessons, which we had to do after school. The dances of the day were: "The Swim", The Monkey, The Twist,...The Pony. All goofy-ass dances. My dancing skills never got me laid. LOL

I was a night nurse a long time ago and I used to play trivia with the other doctors and nurses. One night I came in and asked, who sang the song 96 Tears. I had all the night nurses and doctors trying to figure it out. We didn't have internet then. After 3 nights, I finally had to tell everybody the answer. To this day, 2021, I remember those great times. But I never actually saw what the group looked like until today!
