Quest For The Crest Ultramarathon: Is this the Hardest 50k in the Country?

Ойын-сауық

This is the highest ultramarathon anywhere east of the Mississippi with several miles of the course over 6000ft in elevation. Over it's 35 miles, the Quest for the Crest 50k has a total elevation change of nearly 24,000ft, making it one of the hardest 50k's in the entire country. This is my fourth time running Quest and one of the most spectacular years yet. Come join me and see what it takes to tackle this amazing event.

What a cool adventure/race! Great job with the video. You did a great job telling the story and sharing the adventure with us. I loved "running" along with you on this. That view at 5:30 and 6:34 was epic! Great job on the race.

Great video! I enjoy seeing others perspective of the same race. I remember passing you going up from Bolen’s. That was my least favorite climb for sure. Couple of questions: What changed this year? In 2021, if I remember correctly, you were pushing for a much faster time, was this just an enjoyable run this year? Lastly, sorry I missed your at S2S. I had to DNF after Rabun. Will you have a video of the 25k race? Again great video! Keep it up! Glasses, I also wear glasses, do you do anything to get them to antifog, or do you struggle like myself.

Yeah so 2021/2022 I was in much better shape for the race. For this one I was coming off a really bad mental funk that took a while to get out of. I essentially doubled my YEARLY milage after completing this race (that was in MAY). I did one random 20mi and the Grayson Half before this one. But this is the race that brought me back to training and to running again. It reminded me how much I love the trails, the scenery, the people and the journey. Since this race even though I haven’t posted much to YT I’ve run some pretty amazing stuff recently. Which brings me to S2S. I actually ran a road marathon that weekend up in DC (MCM race) instead. Hated to miss Sky but enjoyed the challenge - it was my first road marathon since 2015! I’m likely planning to be at Cloudland again, are you running that one too?

@@ScottRunsnStuff not this year, I work as a restaurant mgr, so I work a lot of weekends. I ran another 60k race the weekend after S2S (completed that one), but I’m probably done “racing” for 2023. I’ve been looking at what to run 2024 (along with App 100 opens).

Thanks! The animations are a great addition aren’t they! It takes a long time to make but basically I exported the GPX file from my watch into Google Earth, then took two separate recordings, one with the imported file and one without. I then drew a line within the editing software by copying the GPX route that was overlayed on top, animated the line to match my voiceover and then removed the GPX background map revealing just the blank map with the animation. Thanks for watching and for the comment as usual!
