Very excited about Grimes on the Mavs. He's more than just a 3&D wing.

I like this guy. You know his best season is 24-25. Long strong arms. Gritty. Perfect fit for Luka and Kyrie. Such a smart move that no one is talking about. To me he is the kind of player that Green could be. Championship teams need players like this. Mavs get their man and save $12M so actually they can sign another good player for same cap space as before. Best to Hardaway. Good moments from him.

@@tyrq he won’t unless it’s a monster deal. They like him and he’s a perfect fit with Luka and Kyrie. Shoots, defends, finishes at the rim, can pass, willing screener, good teammate and decent contract. He’s not going anywhere. More likely Grimes and Hardy leave because their contracts are up. Those two, Maxi, OMax and Gafford for a playoff tested monster like Draymond because you can make the contracts work (he makes 24.1/M). Him and maybe Gary Payton for a collection of Mavs, but I hope they just make it work with this bunch. Great guys. I don’t know how much better they’d be with Draymond and they might not want to invite that type of manic behavior into their locker room although he might be the only guy we can afford who would have made a difference against Boston. They are the gold standard. To beat them is going to be really tough.

@@fijianwonder well if that were true he would not have been available. He’s young and they would have hung on to him. They clearly chose Sasser and Ivey over Grimes and it didn’t help that he’s in his option year. He was also awful in six games with them and then got hurt. He fell out of favor in New York as well. I like him but don’t pump him up. He’s a good player who has a ways to go before he’s a full time starter again. He won’t play ahead of Jones. Hopefully they find minutes for him AND GREEN. I don’t see any minutes for Hardy and maybe not Exum either. Wild because they both have played so well in stretches. We are incredibly deep.

@@glennvastine5713incredibly deep... Too deep. Josh has too much value to keep him alongside grimes. You literally just broke down the minutes logjam. This team simply has other needs, even if we don't bring in a big name like klay. I think we see green get moved for a shot creator or a big man with 3 pt shooting if we don't see him go to make a bigger deal work.

Grimes, Klay, and Marshall will all contribute significantly to the Mavs' passing, playmaking, and court-awareness, and collectively should be good enough to make up for the loss of DJJ on defense. Mavs unfortunately did lose a bit of athleticism from DJJ and Josh Green. But the Mavs' problem in the Finals was offense. If Luka buys in to more of a ball-moving offense, problem rotundly solved.

Defensively he is more consistent than green and has a higher ceiling. Josh makes some wild loose ball plays sometimes, but he also gives up turnovers in crazy ways too. How does Nico keep cooking? You mean to tell me that he got this kid for Hardaway and a couple of 2nd rounders? Grimes is everything Hardaway should've been. What really surprised me was how aggressive he is and his passing. He really enjoys driving it to the cup & can make some great passes along the way. He's really gonna fit in with the Mavs bigs. Those are aspects of the game that don't really fit Hardaway. Hopefully Grimes can shoot like 37% from 3. That would be huge. And his point of attack defense is really impressive. Another aspect of the game that just ain't Timmy. It's got me wondering if Grimes might not come in and compete with DJJ for the starting spot.

Don't be fooled by this video. His stats are worse than Brickaway's and he's constantly injured. This was purely done to save money for the great DJJ.

Lol, every year Mavs fans get stocked on whatever Nico does. Last year it was Richaud Holmes and Dante exum, now it's another marginal player. Nico keeps trading the farm to try to make up for all the mistakes he's made the last few years.

@@brianhenry7983😂 very silly take. Nico managed to get Kyrie, PJ, Gafford, draft Lively while getting off Bertans, saw potential in DJJ, Exum 🤪 Nico is cooking! Grimes looks very promising. With the much improved spacing in Dallas he will thrive. DJJ and Pj will not be forced to be PoA defenders allowing them to guard their natural positions. Topping on the cake is we got off of THJ.

@@brianhenry7983but that's because holmes was always only ever about moving bertans contract and getting omax in the process. Most smart mavs fans understood holmes would likely never see minutes and was just an easier contract to move than bertans. It's extremely unlikely we ever would have sniffed getting someone like gafford if we were trying to stuff bertans shitty contract in to the deal. Dante exum has well exceeded his contract value. He is basically the end of the bench guy, and frankly you could do so much worse I am borderline shocked anyone would have a problem with 3m for a guy that makes the contributions he has. Hardaway's contract actually was not bad when nico re-signed him and continues to be a fair contract for a team who needs a player of his type. Frankly he was an impact player for us prior to the TDL. He became expendable on this roster once we became more defensively minded, though. Grimes is literally only someone we traded for to come off thj's contract. The fact that grimes could potentially actually be useful is just icing on the cake. Are you aware of the alternative options that were out there to move off thj's deal to free up the MLE? Grimes is the only remotely useful player that was on the short list of guys mavs could trade for that fit the financial situation they were trying to get out of. I'm going to refrain from saying anything completely rude to you, but you're simply missing the point if you think this has anything to do with bringing in a marginal player like he is going to save our team. Furthermore, you're blasting fans getting excited from watching nico cook like we didn't just make the nba finals.
