This whole album is a masterpiece. It should be listened to from start to finish. Geoff Tate has one of THE most amazing voices I have ever heard. Excellent reaction.
You will not find a band where the drums and bass work together as tight as these guys surrounded by awesome vocals and talented guitarists that can sing harmony. Awesome!

One of the absolute greatest concept metal records of all time. It's flawless. Queensryche is the pure definition of genius NOT being understood in its own time. This record should be in the Smithsonian....its concept and lyrics are more relevant than ever. Geoff is one of the greatest to sing Rock imo. Ever.
"Revolution Calling" has to be next. The lyrics are still relevant today.

I love Empire! Amazing....
'I remember now. I remember how it started. I can't remember yesterday. I just remember doing what they told me..."
Geoff Tate with his 5 octave voice...always a great listen!! Love Queensryche!!
I was fortunate enough to see this album (Operation Mindcrime) performed live with actors portraying the various characters in the lyrics....just outstanding...one of the best concerts I have ever attended.
This song was number 1 on headbangers ball for six weeks when MTV still played videos. You need to listen to the entire Operation Mindcrime CD from beginning to end to understand this song though. It's a masterpiece so you wont mind.
One of my favorite bands of all-time. This album is a top ten classic. I would love a full album reaction 💀💀
You guys might know this already, but just in case you do not. This song is the last song on the Operation: Mindcrime album, , which is a concept album (so the lyrics might seem out of place without knowledge of the complete story). I consider this to be one of the best concept albums of the 80's and the story is still relevant to our world today. When you get a chance, the three of you should give the whole album a listen (on your own time if you want), just make sure to have the lyrics close by and sit back and enjoy.

YES, I concur! Best concept album ever! But there will be a lot for you guys to talk about, story-wise. Give it several listens, it gets better and better. Not everything is spelled out, but there are plenty of clues lyrically, and the music is awesome! One of the things QR is very good at doing is writing the music to fit, and support, the lyrical content. There's an especially cool thing they did (whether purposely or just intuitively) with the music for " THE MISSION"(same album). I think a discussion on your show after hearing the album would be cool, with clips perhaps. NOTE:. The ending was truncated for this video, it's actually longer and more awesome. I'd recommend the live performance for the most intense ending. However, on the album version there is a small silence at the end followed by three final words from Nikki, the main character. Really good. it brings the album and story full circle...which you'll understand when you hear the whole thing. 😜 Yes, drums should be louder!! Always! (Drums are my fav instrument). You really picked up on something I noticed with QR. They don't do a lot of showing off. They play what the song NEEDS. They do capture pain and angst in the music, when that's called for (like in The Mission from same album). That's one of the many things I love about them. They are a cohesive unit, telling a story with music and lyrics. And not just individual players doing their thing. They are known for their twin guitar parts, which I love. There's a killer guitar solo by Michael in "Speak" ( from same album) you might enjoy too! I was not aware of QR at ALL until I saw their video for "Anybody Listening?" (on MTV) from their FOURTH release, Empire!! Never heard of them before that! This was 1990-ish. So, I don't think they got much mainstream airplay at all back then. Such a shame! They don't fit the mold in many ways. I love that! I've been checking you guys daily since you did Take Hold of the Flame. SO satisfying to see you guys do this one! I love your comments about the music, lyrics, vocals, etc! Thanks so much! Looking forward to more!

Entire album so good that it is difficult to actually have a favorite song, each chapter of the album a masterpiece.
Can't go wrong with Queensryche, so many great songs. One More Time is another great one as well as Empire.
I'm 63 and I d remember this song... Great analysis, guys; you caught everything in the song and brought it out for inspection and discussion. Loved this, keep it up - you guys are gonna be BIG.🤘
I saw this band twice when the original singer was in the band. Damn it was awesome.
To appreciate the song to the fullest, you seriously need to hear the album from beginning to end. Every song kicks ass.
Bassist Eddie Jackson and Guitarist Michael Wilton (The one without the hat) Are the only original members left in Queensryche.
this song is mindblowingly good
They were their own... Absolute singular sound and feel..... They were part of what made metal great 👊😎
Every song on this album just flows from one to another. The entire album is like listening to one long, fantastic song. Incredible, incomparable album.
I was honored to see this tour with Metallica... The Justice tour . Queensryche and Metallica we're both labeled parental advisory albums at the time....... Imagine that.,.... Queensryche was soul so so underrated.... Forever in my heart

Never ever would you get bored of this album. What a band.
Many of There songs are epic the band way ahead of there time there music never gets old, a lot of talent in this band.
Queensryche was always in the metal category back in the day. We played them multiple times daily here in Dallas on our rock stations. Queensryche shows always sold out. Their show was perfection
I think every song on the album Empire are excellent, Geoff Tate is amazing and I am saying this as a 71 year old. I first heard them in 1994 and his voice mesmerized me. I still listen to them like Deep Purple everyone is great at all their instruments
That whole album Operation Mindcrime is one Long Dramatic Story, that you need to listen to from beginning to end🤘
They got a lot of radio time when their album "Empire" came out. Still, Operation mind crime is a must to listen to start to finish. Could be an amazing reaction video or you to contemplate doing??? The "Rage for Order" album was great in my opinion as well. A little darker but damn.. Very good

YES, I know this album like the back of my hand. When it came out it was the most EPIC thing my sister and I had ever heard! And we were obsessed w Geoff Tate! I have an all new appreciation now, I didn't know what prog metal was back then... They're just all amazing musicians! Thanks for reacting to this, it deserves a comeback. 🤘😠🤘🔥💜
My favorite song!!! Geoff’s voice!! 😍😍😍
Most underrated band ever in my opinion, They were so awesome live with Geoff Tate. Softer side ballet from them is Silent Lucidity, Empire is another great song
I saw my first concert in 1972 and my last concert in 1995. Hands down the best f**king concert I ever saw was Operation Mindcrime. 2nd row, dead center, Denver. Best Concert Ever. All these years later, I can still see and hear it in my mind. You guys, no matter how many videos you watch, it just doesn't capture how beautiful and amazing these guys were in concert and how hypnotizing it all was. Geoff Tate - there is no comparison. Keep listening, you'll love this album but holy shit -- live -- it was like nothing you've seen before and nothing you'll see again.
Once you get past Geoff's vocals then you can truly experience the greatness of this band.. and yes the hype from 80s material is what happened, but I would like to say all their material they have done with this line-up is true greatness.. and yes I said it..GREATNESS.🤘
Roads to Madness would be an amazing song to show off their prog side and more of Geoff's vocals. Its from their 1983 album Warning.
It's always interesting to see people react to a band I consider to be, hands down, the best bend ever. Listen to Mindcrime from start to finish, in order. It holds up all these years later. Geoff continues to tour and sounds just as good today. Mindcrime & Empire was played constantly on the radio.
Seeing this live...from the 2nd row... is forever etched into my brain. Simply amazing.
Queensryche did achieve some airplay in their earlier years on rock stations with the help of MTV rotations of "Queen Of The Reich" and "The Lady Wore Black" from their initial EP. Their first full length album didn't get as much airplay with the exception of "Take Hold Of The Flame". Their second garnered them a top 100 hit with "Gonna Get Close To You" which personally, I feel was one of the worst songs on it. "Walk In The Shadows" and "Chemical Youth" got some airplay. Both these disc went gold, so there was a following( me included). Then came Operation:Mindcrime and this disc blew up for them. Several songs from the album were played on rock radio and at least a few had videos on MTV. First Platinum disc for the band. They really made the mainstream with the next disc, the US 3x platinum selling Empire, on the strength of their #1 single "Silent Lucidity". After one more platinum album, main co-writer Chris DeGarmo left the band and the music suffered for it. They still had some good stuff but harder rock fans were turned off by a more mellow(overall) sound led by singer Geoff Tate's writing style. To make an even longer story short. The band did what bands do, implode. Tate was fired, law suits flew and the band eventually re-formed with a new singer and a new attitude. Back is the edgier, original QR sound. The disc put out by this version of QR is very good three albums in.

You three are on The Road to Madness! Buckle up! Thanks for more Ryche N Roll! 🤘
There was Smokin in the Boys Room and Girls Girls Girls songs at this time............Then THIS and it blew our minds for eternity, even Queensryche could not outdo it no matter how hard they tried. Its a MASTERPIECE
Operation Mind Crimes is a great album to listen to all the way through and it is even better when you learn the story of the album.
An amazing, timeless, classic concept album
Yeah, the whole album. Spreading the Disease is great if I had to pick a next one. So glad you guys are highlighting this group; prog metal wouldn't be the same without this record ! 💥🔥🤘😠🤘🔥💥

Spreading the disease is an absolute banger, as the kids would say. I got this on cassette I listened to it on stop for weeks. I still listen ofter.
I have an uncle who watched him live and as you guys know….he sounds awesome live. Not just done in the studio…..a for real genuine voice. Awesome
One of my favorite concerts- they did the album in its entirety with the “movie/video” behind the band and it was amazing. Hard to get the story piecemeal, but it’s worth the time to listen to the whole album for the full effect!
I'm in my 50's n it is so cool seeing younger guys discover gems from the 80s-90s. I was a huge fan of QR in high school, Desert Storm (a friend sent me a copy of "Empire" there), and early 90s. When I was stationed in Tucson, a friend knew a dj n got us backstage passes to meet them when they were selling out 20K arenas. They were so gracious backstage. This was on "Promised Land" tour and my wife n I sat at a table on stage for one of the songs they were recreating a 60s jazz club vibe. We were so close to the band I could hear them acoustically strumming strings. Unforgettable n I have the gtr picks n autographed copy of the CD. Operation Mindcrime is an exceptional concept album n the 3 vids they released for the album will make more sense if you listen to the whole album. Like many bands, they had personal issues. Chris DeGarmo (guitar/writer), Geoff Tate (singer) n recently Scott Rockenfield (drummer) are not part of the band. Current lineup makes cool tunes but not what they made up to "Promised Land". ****so listen to Operation Mind Crime or watch Live Crime". Its a masterpiece up there with Pink Floyd's the wall.
“ Jet City Woman” is a winner by them…
Their breakthrough album for mainstream is called “Empire “ it’s comparable to Metallica’s black album it was released in 1990 and it received a ton of airplay
You really do have to listen to the whole album to appreciate how each track fits together to create one complete experience.
I was lucky enough to see Queensryche a few times in my life and they are a band that are just as amazing live as they are on their albums. This was a concept album and was awesome to see as a live show.
They were mainstream with the "Empire" album in the 90's. The ballad "Silent Lucidity" was a hit back then.

It was huge, and it wasn't even the best power ballad on that album. 😉
“You have to listen to silent lucidity if you want his full range”.
Their actual first album was an EP that got them signed. Listen to Queen of the Reich...amazing!!!
Operation Livecrime is fantastic. I saw this tour and it was phenomenal. Sounded like the studio version with more energy.
I have to listen to this album complete often. Very solid, fun songs, lyrics that can transcend the time they were written. Mus8c that shreds, vocals.... Great stuff. Recommend the full album for sure. Keep listening to great stuff from the past guys.
You guys did a very great job reacting to a very awesome group, I hope you react to more 1984 songs from Them in Tokyo concert, Queen of the riche We'll definitely rock you out Please do this song!
I don't throw the whole "masterpiece" title around often, but this album really is. From start to finish it is just a brilliant album. do yourself a favor and listen to the whole thing. Suite Sister Mary will evoke every emotion you have.

If you want to hear more of the song, live they played an outro to the entire album that was 🔥 You can watch it on KZread (Operation:Livecrime was the name of the official live show release). You should review the whole album and don't pass on watching the live show. That headlining arena tour in 1991(The Building Empires Tour) was one of the first to utilize film that the band played in sync with and made the Operation: Mindcrime album interactive with the audience. It was the best live performance of any band or theater presentation I've ever seen in my life.
Queensryche 1 of my #1 bands ever
I saw this tour in '91 in Dallas. The best show ever!
Queensryche 81- 91 was beyond anything else
Album sales for Mindcrime really took off because MTV came into being and Queensryche got a lot of play...the lead guitarist Chris DeGarmo (wearing hat) and Geoff Tate are the main song writers and also the 2nd guitarist helped write songs Little side fact, Chris DeGarmo eventually followed his second dream to be an airline pilot and I believe that is what he does to this day, for which airline I do not know

The undisputed best album ever!
This song connected the dots from all the other songs. Yes. It is good to know the full album. :)
Empire and Silent Lucidity, off of the follow-up to Operation: Mindcrime, both got a ton of radio airplay, with Silent Lucidity winning an MTV Video Award. They had other hits as well, but as others have said, Operation: Mindcrime needs to be listened to in it's entirety....preferably while following along with the lyrics. It is a flawless masterpiece and among the greatest records ever made IMO.
Technically it's called "Progressive Metal", Also I seen these guys preform in Dayton, Ohio at the Hara arena with Metallica And Justice for All concert, in 1989, and it was one of the best and memorable concerts that I have ever seen performed by "Geoff Tate's Queensryche", and it was the best Operation Mindcrime concert that I've seen ever performed by the Band. Geoff Tate was in his Prime at the time as great singer, and he fricking blew the roof off the arena because of his powerful vocals.
Dude can sing……really really sing. Dang
OPERATION LIVECRIME! is phenomenal…
I agree 👍 100 PERCENT bro Geoff wrote every song on operation mind crime. Chris D. Wrote the song the mission I saw them live blew me away 😮. You guys have to play more.. Thanks 👍

That was supposed to keep going, and then a voice saying...REVOLUTION!
Empire! Is Anybody Listening .......... think for yourself and feel the walls become sand beneath your feet.
Scott Rockenfield puts on a drum clinic in this song!
"Too bad, people say / What's wrong with the kids today - I tell you right now, they've got nothing to lose / They're building EMPIREs" - I think you guys will really like this one
The empty hallways in the background (symbolism).
At first I thought this was going to be a hard rock version of "Eyes of a Stranger" by the Payolas - released in 1982. Those "Eyes" from the Payolas would be good for you to look at - and listen to - and do a reaction to. This Queensrÿche song of the same name is also very cool. Good singing voice on the part of the lead singer.
“I wanted it to keep going”The video version cuts the outro really short. It keeps going.
I agree. Fantastic voice. Love the guitars. Whole album is dope. I brought the record. Sounds even better.
I Don't Believe in Love should be next from same album, guys.
Operation Mindcrime was a perfect masterpiece. Their biggest hit was Silent Lucidity off their next album Empire. The Empire album was their biggest commercial success.
I appreciate the way you guys reacted to the songs, I wish and hope that you keep doing reactions to 1980 for live in Tokyo concert
You have to see the live version.
The greatest metal album ever 🤜
I saw Queensryche on this tour in 1988 opening for Metallica on the "And Justice for All" tour. Maybe the top show of my life. On Queensryche's next album they were now headlining arenas and I saw them with Suicidal Tendencies opening (another amazing show). Think I've seen them 5 times all together. There are some great songs on their first 2 albums you will want to check out as well. BTW, check out "Revolution Calling" from Mindcrime as the lyrics are SO RELEVANT TODAY. P.S. This band didn't get lost as far as enjoying mainstream success. They were all over MTv in the late 80s/early 90s (pre-internet and when we only had like 30-50 cable channels). People were aware of them.
You guys should check it the whole Operation Livecrime video concert. Until nowadays its one of the best live performances of any progressive band. Geoff was on fire every single night on the tour.
Late 80s , MTV on 12am on Sat. Nites, to 3 am = "HEAD BANGERS BALL" it was a Metal party, each weekend they played a new vid off of MC. It was Awesome. Great LP, and alot of other bands on there like DEATH ANGEL, MEGADETH, OZZY, TESTAMENT, SLAYER, KINGS X , Scorpions, METAL CHURCH , etc,,
Their next album, Empire, received massive radio play. I'd listen to these songs in this order... Empire Jet City Woman Silent Lucidity When you do Empire, I recommend my lyric video (shameless plug) for all lyrics AND speech in the song. Or if you watch the video, have the lyrics pulled up. The music is powerful, but the lyrics are even more so.
I grew up with the original members, sort of (they were from neighboring towns and we went to the same parties).
Thanks for the reaction. This is when you're at your best when none have heard or remember the song. My favorite songs all reside in the first release EP and first four full albums. The Lady Wore Black is my go to from the EP. You've already done Take Hold of the Flame from The Warning. Rage for Order as an entire album is a bit different for them. Walk in the Shadows is the best representation of what you would expect. Mindcrime. Start to finish. My favorite. I could offer up individual songs, but you really should consume it in its entirety. Empire was probably their most commercially successful album off the popularity of Silent Lucidity, which I personally can't stand. But Jet City Woman and Another Rainy Night are great songs.

The album is great and so is the video compilation called Queensrÿche: Video Mindcrime. Maybe you guys could react to Danzig:Mother. Keep up the good work and keep those reactions coming.
Radio play...lots of it for Silent Lucidity, Another Rainy Night and Jet City Woman.
Straight jacket memories,sedative highs!
di garmo/wilton are up there with smith/murray iron maiden in dual guitar harmonies
The song in the album does not end like that. It has just enough more to give closure to an epic album
Their only mainstream songs are "Silent Lucidity" and "Jet City Woman". Queensryche isn't a "punch you in the face" type band but their music is a progressive Rock type vibe. They're very good at moody, dramatic songs. At least the old Queensrÿche was (this is part of their classic catalogue. "Empire" wasn't a bad album. They went a little more commercial on it but still maintained their vibe); I don't know about now. You should react to "Best I Can", the opener on "Empire." Great song.
