Queen Victoria's Educational Visit To Warwick | Royal Upstairs Downstairs | Absolute History

Victoria, who had been on the throne for 21 years, visited Warwick Castle with Albert in 1858 for just three hours. They were tourists just like the other ten thousand visitors to the castle, which had been open to the public for at least 30 years before the queen popped in. The royal couple used the visit to learn more about the history of their country from one of the finest castles in England, built some 500 years earlier.

@@Dorky9394 what do you mean masked the food in mayo? Like Lobster or lettuce was gross or something? Maybe together was the problem and they needed the mayo? Idk, glad I wasn't alive during this time. The one time I had lobster I didn't like it. It was too sweet. I don't know if lobster should even taste sweet? No one ever told me? Maybe it was a posh thing to eat and she didn't like it? She would never tell, right. But liked her mayo?

@@ithoughtyouknew7036 curry for example, people added spice and herbs to mask the flavour of spoiled meats due to refrigeration not being invented yet. People incorrectly assume curry is an Indian invention. The word “curry” and curry power were a British attempt at recreating foods tasted whilst in India so by all historical accounts curry is British 👍🏼

Thank heavens I didn't have any bite of that marvellous lobster salad, because it would definitely go to waste as I would surely not be able to control me emetic reflex upon hearing the final quotation from the journal of whatsherface that was accompanying Victoria on her visit. An absolutely nauseating level of false, naive, over the top flattery bordering on idolatry.
