First discovered Queen in 1974 when I was 7 years old and Sheer Heart Attack was released. One listen and I've been hooked ever since. Saw tgem live in 1986 at Knebworth Park, their last ever live show in the UK as it turned out. So lucky to have seen Freddie live. He was incomparable

"White Queen live at the Odeon" is so beautiful it will blow you away. It's one of their earlier performances.... Just just chills when you listen to not just his voice, but the instrumental in the middle, is one of the prettiest things I have ever heard.

The smoothest transition ever - from Brian on keys to guitar - and Freddie sits down and just pounds it out -- Brian's song, BTW... and Roger and Brian on backing vocals... I love Freddie as much as anyone... but sometimes I think that it's hard to see the planets surrounding such a bright star -- everyone in this band is integral to their performance and success -- thanks for a thoughtful reaction - and hopefully more songs...

I saw 6 concerts in 15 days during the Day at the Races tour and the middle third of every show was different. They were such pioneers and are credited with so many "firsts" in rock history. Listen to The Show Must Go On-basically Freddie's last vocals.

Queen are amazing, so versatile, try their 70's era, Stone cold crazy , first trash metal song before the term was invented, March of the black queen, The prophet's song both of them lyrics version rarely played live because of their complexity. Freddie was the best male vocalist of the 20th century, Dimash is for now the best vocalist of the 21th century. If you want to ear the amazing thing Freddie could do with his voice try Exercises in free love, and remember that Freddie never had singing lesson, imagine if he had....I have goosebumps thinking about it. He is deeply missed. Let's not forget Brian, Roger and Deaky, they are very talented musicians and songwriters too. Thank you for this reaction, I will be waiting for more.

The 4 were all very talented in their own unique way & it all worked bc the stars somehow aligned and put the 4 of them together. It lasted 21 years, 13 albums (sans all the live stuff or greatest hits) and somewhere around 700+ shows. They definitely had 2 distinct sounds. 70s vs 80s. Both fantastic IMO. Another great early one that you may not know is liar. Written by Freddie and it’s a rocker, each of them give a fantastic performance. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gYhlxKRvk67UZNo.html 1974 live at the Rainbow.

One of the things that makes Brian's sound so unique is the fact that his guitar is literally one of a kind. It's called The Red Special and he made it himself with his dad when he was a teenager as they couldn't afford a shop bought one. It is made out of bits and pieces such as an old mantelpiece, a table top, a knitting needle, mother of pearl buttons and more. It was made using hand tools, no power tools and there are a few vids on you tube where he talks about it if you want to check it out.

My Queen story in a nut shell. 10 years old approaching my 11th bday, 1974. My cousin taking me to my first concert. It was Queen opening for a band called Mott The Hoople. Then, 1976, happen to be watching American Bandstand, the vid for Bohemian Rhapsody appears and I was struck and hooked!!. I got every album and got to see them three more times, in 1977 with Thin Lizzy opening for them (you remember The Boys Are Back in Town?), then in 1980 and 1982. The latter had Billy Squire opening for them. So now at 57 years old and I still listen to them like it is the first time. Queen will always excite me, rock me, make me laugh and make me cry. all the best to you.

Brian May and his father made his guitar themselves. He said it took about 3 years to make it using materials from his grandparents fireplace mantle and his mother’s sewing machine. The whammy bar is one of his Mother’s knitting needles and he also plays using a coin instead of a guitar pick. Pure genius. The Red Special is what it is called. Gotta love Brian’s talent also❤️

Recently I have been paying more attention to 1983-Freddie’s departure in 1991.Though very sad I and millions of Queen fans remain loyal to Brian and Roger as they forge ahead (just as Freddie would have wished for...)

I think Brian is getting the recognition now as a guitarist. Not only was he innovative but his guitar was built by him and his dad when he was teenager and was designed so that everything could happen through the guitar without petals or effects. I think with Queen, people didn't pay as much attention to the rest of the band because of how bright shining Freddie was. Queen is unusual because all of the band members were song writers (this particular song was Brian's-hence why he is playing piano on it, not Freddie) and all had at least one of their song make it to number one on the charts. Also, both Brian and the drummer Roger could have (and were on some Queen songs and solo projects) been lead singers in their own right had they not had such an amazing and unique lead singer in Freddie. If you want to hear how either of them as lead check out Rock It (Prime Jive) off of The Game for Roger (Freddie starts it off though) or Sail Away Sweet Sister for Brian (Freddie sings a small middle part). They are lead on other songs also. The combination of those three voices was what made Bohemian Rhapsody possible and why Queen's harmonies are so good. Roger has a high raspy voice (the high notes and "Galileo's" are Roger), Brian is deeper and very soft and warm sounding to counteract Roger's rough voice and Freddie crystal clear vibrato fills the rest.

I went to Magic Tour in 86 at Wembley, it was the first time I saw the band live and the last as the original 4 set up. Brian May and Roger Taylor still work hard to promote the Queen brand and still maintain an excellent level of musicianship, which is incredible given they are both into their 70s! The Night Goes Down from their self titled first album of 1973 is an absolute must. This was before they'd had any hits and were struggling to get noticed.

Listen to all their solo albums, there is so much to listen to. Just to add a little info; Last interview I saw with Brian May about this was maybe 2 years ago (my apologies, I can't find that vid now). He said his original Red Special is still his primary guitar, the main one he still uses on stage. The replicas are back-ups (and he sells official replicas too). As I understand, he's had back-ups for years, but they are mainly used when he doesn't want to risk damage to the original, such as when filming in the snow for the We Will Rock You & Spread Your Wings videos (the original was used in the studio, for the actual audio recordings).

Watch White Queen live at Hammersmith Oden 1975(Christmas Eve). It’s very early in their career right after Bohemian Rhapsody put them in super star status. Love of My Life live at Wembley 1986 is fantastic. It will show you the relationship Freddie had with his fans. What happens during that song happened at every concert when he sang it- even in foreign countries. Of course you should see them Do Bohemian Rhapsody live at Montreal 1981 and a great rock song Now I’m here live at Wembley 1986. The crowning glory is their show stealing performance at the Live Aid gig in 1985. All the big groups participated. It was 16 hours and each group had 17 minutes. Over 1.5 BILLION PEOPLE saw it on TV that July Saturday, including me! It is still ranked the best live rock and roll performance in history. Many doctors videos explain how he used his vocal cords better than most singers looking at throat xrays, have said his vocal was astounding & even better than Luciano Pavarotti, a famous opera singer. He never had singing lessons, but had piano lessons since 6 & had a white baby grand mom taught him on, they were wealthy. At 8, he was put on a ship by his parents & traveled alone across the sea to attend private school in India where he attended for about 6-7 yrs with few visits from parents after they were forced out of their country, Zanzibar, Africa, in a war against Parsies with only the clothes on their backs to avoid being killed. At that private sxhool, at 8, he formed his 1st band, The Hectics, & played concerts there til he left. They moved Freddie & all settled in London.suburb He loved it there, firmed another band of two, IBEX, then WRECKAGE. An adult tha t knew him those yrs said he had basically 2 tee shirts & 1 probably of jeans he washed constantly & wore every day. He had little $ for clothes. He followed a London band he loved called SMILE, & that was Brian May & Roger Taylor's band. When their singer quit, FREDDIE Jumped AT THE chance! They were smart enough to recognize Freddie's genius in so many areas & his kindness, his confiden c e onstage, his insistence he was NOT the leader of Queen, he was "just the lead vocalist" said alot about him as yrs went on. He was funny, happy, & they say he encouraged them to be perfectionists with their working together in the studio. When they hired a basist John Deacon, "Deacy", Freddie drew an elaborate ROYAL graphic icon & suggested they now needed a new band name, QUEEN! Shocked but open to Freddie's sweet, amiable & pushy personality, they went along with his bubbly confidence. He never had a bit of doubt they would become legends because he believed in all of them as a unit, not just hid own extraordinary abilities. The rest is history. I nicknamed Freddie the Masterpiece In Human Form. In museums they put benches in front of the best paintings because when soneth I NG is so extraordinary you need time to sit, stare & take it all in for a few minutea. Now I see u both doing just that... watching Queen on yr show. Please go watch a different version of Lap Of The Gods, it's a 100 times better & different than the one u posted at Wembly. PLEASE !!! Hammersmith ODEON 1975 /12/24 Luv u ,Brian&Stan! Sailor Suzie go to: kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4KKzMhuYJmuZtY.html

I went to Imperial College in 1973, just after Brian had abandoned his PhD there and the band were starting to get noticed. A poster went up in the Student Union for a Queen concert there (a very modest concert venue - I think tickets were 40p!!) and I was so looking forward to it. But the concert was pulled (I heard that it was because their management wanted to use their success to fill bigger venues) . I was enjoying myself in other ways at university so missed the chance to see them at Hammersmith Odeon. Thank goodness so much was captured on video for us to enjoy now!

My personal "story" with Queen was, that I had really a phase of depression and really not knowing how to go on living. So I had thoughts of suicide. But I said to myself, that I have to listen to the last Queen album "Made in heaven". It wasn't out at this time. At the time, when it came out my life was better, and so I think, that Queen had saved my life at least a little. You said, that it could be a good idea to listen to some complete albums of Queen. This is definitely a very good idea. The creativity of Queen can only be explored by listening to whole albums. Just take "A night at the opera". There are lots of completely different styles of music on it - fro heavy metal to pop via Folk, Ragtime and even dixieland jazz. If you like to react to songs which are not live, I really would like you to watch "Made in heaven", one of these genius but underrated songs or Innuendo, one of my favourites. Anyway thanks for your good job and thanks for reacting to Queen...

My first concert was Queen in September 1980 at MSG in NYC when I was 17. I managed to get through security and into the "Green Room" I went. I don't know which was more fun. The "Green Room" or the Concert. Guess I’m lucky, I experienced both! I still have the ticket. I don’t know why it isn’t pasting into the comment. Hmm?? Sincerely Original Fat Bottom Girl from Old HB NYC, I’m not Freakin kidding!!!!!! FYI: Just in case, Fat Bottom Girl and Bicycle Race are 2 songs usually played together.

Freddie never had singing lesson. Check out Headlong, Mother Love, We are the Champions, Love of my Life, Live Aid, Wembley concert 1986. There’s so many songs for u to check out. I grew up with this group and now I’m watching them with Adam Lambert and after 29 yrs after Freddie’s been gone their still number one.

Brian May is one of the most beloved guitarists of all time. It is just not a huge public perception type of thing like with Clapton or something. Ask a lot of guitar players who grew up with Queen music and they will sing his praises.

Nice to see how the you can appreciate music like this. About you appraising the tremendous voice of Freddie Mercury, I suggest to check out Tom Jones singing I Never Fall in Love Again (live version from 1967) and/or - which probably is totally out of your area of interest, but just give it a try... - Luciano Pavarotti singing "Nessun dorma" from Turandot (The Three Tenors in Concert 1994). You might be surprised...
