OMG I miss the 90s..and I was born in 89 lol. The 90s were the best decade, weren't they? In so many countries, it seems. I remember the sense of hope and optimism in music art movies...Also, she was such a beauty, and wow being so business savvy at 21...awesome.

Many people tend to feel that their first two decades were the best ... it's a certain nostalgia one has as they get older ... you call it the good old days . The older you get the more you will find yourself looking back on the good old days .

Yeah that interviewer couldn't seem to grasp the concept of a business as an investment ... at least she came across that way . How could you go wrong with a video store back then when everybody was renting videos ... and it's not as as problematic as the food industry can sometimes be .

I also think I might remember that chick from MTV and she looks like she is China Kantner... and her two parents were actually very famous rock stars from the band The Jefferson Airplane . So if that is her she grew up fairly privileged in the San Francisco area . Pretty sure that's her at one point she had short hair like that .

I remembered when she lived there, she use to go to Pathmark late at night in her green tracker, plus she use to play basketball underneath the turnpike. D-Nice use to come to the Crab house all the time, very shy cool dude at that time. 90's was the best time growing up in JC.

facts, pathmark was always the late night go to spot after leaving TJ's party spot on communipaw. Especially for us who lived in Lafayette Projects. I also remember when we used to give d-nice a pass on Jackson ave on the hill before they named it martin luther king blvd, on the strength of Heather B. It messed with my braincells when she started rapping because anybody who knows her knows she was a quiet girl in the hood.

I don't like that interviewer. Seemed like she was in such disbelief that a black woman is owning property and stores and making bank. She was asking questions like she was in doubt and encouraging Queen Latifah to say how hard it is. She wasn't even excited to interview the Queen. Just so bland and monotone the whole time.

Shoutout to La, this bought back hella memories. I remember when she snatched up that video store. I remember when dixon mills was a abandoned pencil factory before they turned it into condos. My brother had one of them condos in her building. We crossed paths a few times. Once in east orange at my boy house where she kept her ladies first vw jetta while she would be on tour. I was shocked when she was nothing like that afrocentric character, those that know, know. A success story that was in the making.

I knew Queen Latifah was born in Newark but had no idea she used to live in Jersey City too. This is crazy being that I've been a JC resident for over 20 years now. Seeing a bit of the Dixon Mills apartments is wild to me. Also, it's nice to see someone being eloquent and soft spoken but having some swagger at the same time all at the tender age of 21.
