1989 I first heard Queen Latifah on a mix tape of female rappers. Her song was last on the B side but it was the best one on there, Princess of the Posse. She was different, intellectual but smooth. I went out and bought the album as soon as I could, I was 13 years old and knew, even then, she was quality.

Angela Siegfried The book was great. I’m always very wary when books I love are made into movies but I loved the movie. Queen Latifah was August Boatwright and she was wonderful. Dakota Fanning was the girl.

Queen Latifah is one of the most beautiful black women alive. Her cheekbones alone... It's just a bonus how smart and funny and endearing she is. I could go straight in a heartbeat for a lady like this. She'd have nothing to do with me, of course, but that simply adds more points. It means she has taste, too.

And... I love that she said “beignets “ as in N’awlins y’all!- I suspect she knew he from so. Carolina and knows that world 😋 she is truly a queen in our world ✌🏽and Stephen is the funniest king of late night- I don’t care what anyone else says..I adore Stephen Colbert- he’s funny as hell and has the cajones to say what’s on his mind- and it’s always brilliantly funny!

Her best role is undoubtedly Bessie in HBO's biopic. A true legend of The Blues, honoured magnificently.

"Somebody need to be throwin' _me_ a party." And right then, as if on cue, Stephen does. It's almost as if he _anticipated_ that.

She's been an inspiration for me...very entrepreneurial minded, gracious/humble/real, love of music, and we both share tragically losing our beloved brother (my only sibling who I lost in my late teens; if I remember correctly that was the same in her case too; she's a few yrs older than me but like many posters have said...she looks great/barely aged).

I remember first seeing her on Fresh Prince and representing real women. I was a young girl with low self esteem and her message was a game changer. She’s a true Queen.
