This was in the era of Glam Rock, so this long hair was in that era. By the later 70's, they (Freddie Mercury) had his classic shorter hair. FM was an amazing performer.

This is one of my very favorite early Queen songs. It is just sooooo Freddie. Okay, it is time for you to do some Live Queen so you can see how Freddie works that crowd. He is animated but he also is very engaging, he is the whole package. Queen didn't just do a concert, they always did a whole production with costumes, lights, smoke and engagement of the crowd.

This is when I fell in love with Queen and Freddie’s FUR JACKET! I had a chance to purchase it at auction last fall but it sold for 32,500. USD so 32,000 over my budget, lol. As a teen in the 70's, with no internet, it took me a little sleuthing to learn that Moet & Chandon was champagne! Queen's early years might be considered a bit heavier. Check out “Stone Cold Crazy” live at the Rainbow 1974. Freddie wrote it in 1970; Metallica covered it and won a Grammy. Thanks!

“Does he (Freddie) look into the crowd?” Firstly, this is only a video performance recorded for Top of the Pops, which Queen, especially Freddie hated because it’s all lip syncing. Secondly, if you haven’t seen Freddie’s amazing interaction with the ‘crowd’ please check out Queen’s 22 minute performance at Live Aid in 1985 and the concert at Wembley 1986. My absolute favorite live song is Somebody to Love at the Montreal show in 1981. Queen = the band which consists of Freddie (lead singer, piano), Brian (guitar, vocals), John (bass), Roger (drums, vocals). Thanks for reacting ❤ I’ll be back for more.

Great reaction. You really need to start a Queen journey with the Official video of Bohemian Rhapsody. Killer Queen was the first Queen record that I bought and I’m still a fan. You can never go off them once you are hooked. 😁👍🏾

Here are a few queen earlier performances. Queen Liar live London 1977 Stone cold crazy live at the rainbow Tie your mother down live montreal 1981 Liar live at the rainbow Keep yourself alive live montreal 1981 Dragon attack live montreal 1981 These are just a few there are so many more. Yes, in the 70s Queen were considered a heavy band, and were part of the early Heavy Metal movement. They influenced; Metallica, Guns n Roses, Nine inch Nails, Def Leppard,Foo Fighters and more. Mostly due to Brian's seering tone on his guitar and Freddie's incredible range.

One of those songs that in retrospect just seems miraculous that it was written! It's amzazingly creative and....good! So melodic, so much care put into it. Enjoyed your reaction, Ace! You appreciate Freddie. Hard rock?....sort of but not really...their hardest stuff was their earliest stuff.

This song was the first I heard from Queen. BTW, Queen is the band. The singer is Freddie Mercury, and the guitarist is Brian May. Part of the lore is that he made his own unique guitar. As far as the generations go, my understanding is that Queen is the most appreciated old band. Not the Beatles, Stones, Who, etc. But Queen.

This was one of the first singles that I ever had, after Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine by The Beatles, and SOS by Abba. I was in grade school and I was just astonished by the Wizardry of it, how creative it was, trying to figure out the lyrics because they had such a sing-songy but really cool kind of Rhythm to them. Everything about it was great, and I instantly became a queen fan. And yes, Freddie Mercury was actually known as one of the best at interacting with the audiences. Kind of like Elvis Presley before that. The fan is fine. I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out, and there's certainly no reason for you to have to even be hotter by not running the fan. The only thing I can hear when the music isn't playing are the cicadas and crickets or whatever they all are, which we get a lot of here in Kansas. I personally find it comforting.

In concerts, Freddie certainly does look at the crowd. He's very engaging with them. Always focused on his audience. Chit-chatting with them, getting them to participate. Btw, was "theatrical" the word you were looking for ?

Absolutely! Opera is a great comparison. It's like old melodies (1920s 1930s) turned into rock (rock opera) It's similar to other progressive bands: a combination of different styles.

I recommend anything from Montreal 1981 especially somebody to love and save me. You must watch the Wembley show. I potentially liked who wants to live forever, one vision and really anything else. Queen changed over the years and they didn’t really have a specific genre everything from, every metal, progressive rock, rock, opera, ballads, and on and on. At Wembley, they did a fabulous rock medley, so much fun, I agree with the others live aid is a musty. It is considered the best concert in history 20 minutes. It goes by very very fast. By the way, Lady Gaga took her name from one of the songs radio gaga. Have fun.
