I was just 15 years old when I saw Queen at the Gaumont theatre back in 70s. Incredible gig. I love their heavier rock era. I managed to sneak backstage, their dressing room was filled with amazing bouquets of flowers everywhere!! Had a brief chat with them, and Freddie, gawd bless him, picked up a bouquet of flowers and gave it to me! Shame didn't have a camera back then!!

I'm so pleased that this band is loved and appreciated by all the youngsters that have commented, I have been a fan of Queen since 1973, I still have Queen 1 and Queen 2 on vinyl as well as Sheer heart attack. I saw them live in 1974 in Swansea. This brings back so many brilliant unforgettable memories. You've made an old man very happy.

This is how a great rock band looks and sounds. My first concert of any band: Queen 1977. Such an amazing band.

Keep in mind that John was 19, Brian was 24, Roger was 22, and Freddie was 25 in this video (with the orange background, the 1971 demo).

I love the early Queen era.

KISS may be my favorite band of all-time (and has been since I was seventeen years old), but this Queen track (which happened to be its debut single) has become my favorite song of all-time! I took up karaoke activity just a few months ago, and have showcased this (relatively) hard-hitting number more than any other so far! I've survived a ton of crazy and difficult stuff since childhood (and even thought very briefly at one point as a teenager about taking my own life). Therefore, I feel as though that "Keep Yourself Alive" by Queen is a really excellent fit for me!

Yummy Sounds Well, John was so quiet at the beginning, and I read that in one of their first concerts, John and Freedie had a little discussion for the wearing, John only wanted to wear a t-shirt and blue jeans. But yes, their friendship was great.

Your comment made my day 'cause today i was asking myself if John was the "serious" one, i would i actually prefer to say reserved 😁 how did he accept to wear those 70's rock glam outfits? But now you answered my question, honestly i think they looked pretty attractive in those, for some reason i think it would still look flattering if good rock bands wore them, but oddly i think if i go back in time to the 70's i would be more attracted to Queen and have blackouts from their music, talent and looks heheh! 😅 now i get why some fans began to call themselves groupies 😅 i don't know why i said during 'the early years' i meant during their whole career, but the only thing i still don't believe, is that they say John was "disturbed" even "disgusted" by Freddie's behaviour and style? If he was that uncomfortable, i doubt he would have'd worked with him all those twenty years...

Totally agree. Once the synthetic sound came in, they were more Flash Gordon than Queen. Like a lot of the '70's hard rock bands, Judas Priest included, their earlier songs had far more substance to them, than their later 3 minute singles.

Two sounds, one the guitar he and his dad built, then later (? when) the amp John Deacon built supposedly from Radio parts - Which to be honest Radio Amp circuits for Guitars can be maligned but I have one on the amp stage with fairly simple Mullard Amps, does not sound like Brian's but it does the job.

Queen at their best, long haired '70's rockstars kicking arse on record and even more so onstage. For me the Sheer Heart Attack album was their best record. Freddie was fucking fantastic, best quote when the power went off: We'll pose and you just look at us... Only Freddie could pull that off. Excellent.

Thank you for this video. It wakes memories back in 1987, when this album "Queen" as LP was my first Queen album. I got it for my birthday from my parents. I remember that after this song (the first song on the album) ended, I directly walked to my record player and started it again from the beginning to listen to it again.
