Todays LGBT youth will NEVER know that felling of belonging and that special buzz when you walked into a proper gay club with our own music and atmosphere, there were scary times, yet the best of times too...

You’re right, and it’s amusing how they think life for us was so repressed and circumspect when we had such self expression and elation, very likely never to be experienced again - we created a culture that was on such a high plane - and as far as I can tell it has never been properly memorialized in any tv show, documentary, movie, or even book.

Another go to song is You've got it all by Peggy Scott.
The Saint was the most exciting nightclub in the world in the 80's. Lifetime full of the best memories. From the DJ's, top world entertainers/singers, sound system, state of the art lighting, and the HOT men. Sad younger generations will never experience the magic of this 8th wonder of the world.
I spent my 15th birthday at the Saint. Was taught how to fan dance balancing a bottle of poppers in one hand and my other hand exploring the crotch of the men dancing near me. I saw heaven and cant wait to return one day.

One of the BEST songs ever!!
To all my brothers who lived the dance that night, the spirit of our brethren gone but not forgotten lives in our hearts forever as do you in mine.
Some of the best memories of my life.....The Saint from 1981 until 1986.....I didn't live in NY but visited at least twice a year for it's legendary parties! There was nothing like it before or since-and you can't explain it to the one or two generations that have come since-any more than you can explain to them how hard we fought for the rights they take for granted. It was a completely compelling, fulfilling, communal experience of unconditional love and support for EVERYONE there! THANKS!

THANKS for the memories John Tavenner! You brought me right back to great friends now departed, Bruce Mailman, Sam Wagstaff, Robert Mapplethorpe, Roy Thode, Jeorge Villardell, the house in Fisherman Walk in Fire Island Pines, the Pavillion and so many wonderful memories! Thank you again!
What a song, and what memories it brings back of the once in a lifetime experience that was THE SAINT! Dancing under the dome with the stars from the planetarium projector until after dawn with all the HOTTEST MEN in NYC. I will remember those nights forever.

Dancing at the Saint was unlike any other. From the entry, sensing the throb, tingling up your spine, the involuntary movement of hips, feet, spinning your SOUL as you approached the dance floor, eyes upward to the mirrorball as it crept downward from the apex opening where the gods mingled, beckoning you to join them. From the perimeter’s energy, swirling inward toward the star field projector’s erection, drawn magnetically through the beautiful bodies until you became one/all, energy exponentially enhanced beyond boundaries. Timelessly transformed, sightsound spiritually sated after hours of orgasmic boogying. Glancing toward the DJ and the light man’s perch with gleeful gratitude for another ecstatic evening…. The memories still bring tears of joy after almost fifty years. Thanks again for Bruce Mailman’s dream realized, truly a peak spiritual experience. THANK YOU TIM, I miss you so!
So true John Street , the gay dance music of yester-years Gay Clubs was so magical that today's youth will unfortunately never experience it ..
I absolutely love this tune - god what memories!!!
Still here and I'm very lucky to experience this song at The Saint and the best years of my life living in NYC !

Still have excellent memories of being there and enjoying it. This song is incredible and was definitely played above the dome, as 1988 was the last year for The Saint.

It was the best place for dreams to come true! I was there opening night and all through the parties until closing. Sad to say, I am the only one of my friends left. The dream still lives.

Same here! With the recent death of my dear friend Julio Benavides- there is no one! My favorite night was Hearts party, valentines day (presidents day, Sunday night) Roy Thode in the Booth. By 6 am, DJ's from other clubs in town were in the booth with him. We danced until 1 pm Monday, then continues the fun at the Barbary Coast! The Cut Glass numbers are still my favorites! Hope you are happy, healthy, and well comrade! Jimmy Galdieri

I was bopping to this beautiful song in the late 80s in all the gay clubs in Earls Court, Heaven and Brighton. Loved it and still love it. All my friends have gone their own way or died, but my memories live on. "If I could turn back time" quotes Cher and how true!! Those were the days and this is me. Tony
This song is so great!
I will never forget that spectacular place as long as I live.
You made my birthday. One of my all time favorites. Was wondering when someone was going to get this out on YT. (We probably danced next to each other at the Saint.) Great Memories. Thanks for sharing !! Tom

Wwwooowww, I met the Saint 12/26/82, I could die with such a spectacular site, men, music, architecture, lights, I couldn't believe it, I was 22 years old and I was a tourist, Venezuelan, Caracas, I knew Studio 54, but Saint left me Open mouth, not women, only gay men, an unforgettable experience. I love New York.

Wow... My tastes for (specifically-Disco) 'Dance music' is usually between somewhere within music made from 1974-1982- This song works for me.
Don’t remember this song specifically but surprised it’s from the late rather than early 80s (?) - while I was certainly around then the years started to blend together, unlike the late seventies when I remember virtually every month, what I was listening to, where I was going, what I was wearing, how I was dancing.....
sometimes they just feel like a 13 year regret , great song for a great place the pics and film does not do it justice , A truly amazing beautiful club whyou look up andd see stars it was like ecsatasy
