Quarterback Princess

Фильм және анимация

Based on a true story about Tami Maida (starring Helen Hunt) who played football in the small town of Philomath, Oregon. Tami sets out to prove she can do anything the boys can. She fights against sexist traditionalism in her struggle to gain the right to play on the high school football team. Will she lead her team to a winning season? Will she gain the approval of her worst critics?
Quarterback Princess was filmed in 1983 in McMinnville, Oregon at McMinnville High School.

My mom and the '40s used to go to a boxing club where her brother and my uncle needs to box, now he taught her how to fight and she became so good that the boxing coach would use her as a spring partner for the lighter weight boxes there. She wanted to box in the ring but at that time there was no way that was going to happen. My mom just passed away at 83 years old and she was way ahead of her time and what she thought about what women can do. Heck, she was The first person in our family that my and I brothers used to arm wrestle because she used to drive a 57 station wagon with no power steering and we had a hard time beating her

Helen Hunt is perfect for this part as Tami playing on the men's high school football team. She was brave and determined and turned out to be an asset to the team. There was a lot of news commotion in the town and much laughter to endure. She was gracious and stayed focused and a good example for anyone who is different in their chosen field to emulate.

Fabulous film ! What a story. Without films like this, real stories wouldn't be known at all! Great cast.. Technical stuff by Tami herself.. wow 😍 I know nothing about American Football, but the premise resonates with me. I joined a female Basketball team at school in the 90s, but there weren't enough of us to make the league. We weren't allowed to play with the men/boys on their team even if we wanted to, and Basketball is a minimal contact sport ! 🙄🤔 This story is really special. Thank you for this upload ❤

I saw this movie as a kid and I can highly relate to this. Back then, there were hardly any women sports. We had to choose from a limited number of sports. I remember in middle school, my school only had the option of us playing volleyball, which I hated. After complaining. complaining and complaining, we finally convinced our PE teacher to let us play soccer. The school had the fields and only the boys were allowed to play.

We must have been ahead of you. By 1983 (junior high for me), girls did most sports boys did. I did Judo and about 20% of the club were female. I had a girl on a baseball team. I knew several girls who played ice hockey. School had soccer, basketball, touch (flag) football, track, floor hockey, gymnastics, swimming, etc. The only big sports I know the girls didn't do was rugby and wrestling. Then again, the boys didn't do field hockey. There were girls at school who used the weight room. Soccer was huge for girls. We had separate boys/girls classes until PE 12, which was co-ed but included all sorts of fun sports/games -- golf, tennis, broomball, bowling, skiing, ping pong, swimming, etc. I remember seeing the movie and the girl playing football thing wasn't that big of a deal even then. Personally, the fact that a Canadian family was playing football in high school was. This is not a sport widely played in Canadian schools.

It was lot of fun to see a movie that was actually well directed and acted, and the story is inspirational. A very nice change from the gooey princess movies my feed has been pushing at me; I almost didn't watch it because it had "princess" in the title. I can't help thinking it wasn't quite that easy in real life as the movie shows, but after all they've got to condense it into 90 minutes, so overall I was very happy with this. Glad to have seen it.

Truly love movies like this, back around early 2000. But not anymore after 2010++ until now. Movies like this will spread more Hate towards both Bio Woman & Bio Man. So much Delusional Irrational Slandering and Hate for Biological Man and Biological Woman just to save Alphabet Communities asses.....

I watched the original airing of this. Wow Tim Robbins and John Stockwell. Stockwell was perhaps the most successful of that early-mid 80's period. Interesting he was a close friend of Andy Warhol.

Great movie. What's mindboggling is the current times seem to think they're the ones discovering all this now. Like it never happened before. Newsflash: it has.
