    I am currently pursing a MBA/MS in Mathematical Finance right now, and then I am planning on becoming a Quant. The only downside is that the pool of applicants is high and the number of jobs available is low. In other words, the number of job opportunities available is limited and requires years of industry or research experience. However, if you manage to break into this extremely niche field, then you would be making between 150k - 250k per year (not including bonuses) as an entry-salary. After a few years, you will see salary numbers closer to 500k per year.

    Quant here. Yes, we do earn that much, but this is a wildly competitive field to get in to, so most people won’t get the job. If they’re going to pay you like an experienced surgeon when you’re 23, you have to expect there to be a catch.

    Get better at building models. I believe your Masters degree in Analytics will focus on R and Python. You could take a Quant Finance specific course on the side to gain more experience or try to get an internship in the field with would be more valuable. Best of luck!

    There are number of them on Coursera. Since I have not take a quant course myself, it would be unfair for me to recommend one specific course. You could choose a highly rated one on Coursera by universities like Rice university or Harvard. It would be a good way to gain knowledge of the basics

    Manage to enroll in an ivy or T20, since a significant portion of people who get hired in finance fresh out of college do so because they had connections from those ivies or because of their degree and the company recruits from there.

  • @wondersenseiuniversity

    @wondersenseiuniversity

    3 ай бұрын

    Better is a very subjective term. Data science roles are more abundant than quant analyst jobs and also are less demanding in terms of skills which means they pay lesser than quant analyst roles. So, which one is better for you depends on what your skills and expertise are. In general, it's harder to get a quant job than a data science job.

    I’m a quant. It doesn’t work like that. You’re working within a walled garden and given access to deep data sets that cost millions to store and trade execution that requires a team of front office devs to maintain.
