I didn't listen to the songs before the contest this year, but the hype about Albania did reach me. After hearing it, I don't know what this hype was about. Very overrated song, and the staging was...odd, to put it mildly. Albania has always sent interesting entries, but not this time imho.

Really was one of the most suprising semi finals of all time! I think we all were in shock with the results. Good Luck to everyone that made it on Saturday!

While I kinda expected Greece, The Netherlands and Portugal to qualify, I wasn't sure about Iceland and actually didn't even have Lithuania on my radar. I'm glad for all of them and especially for the fact that so many women made it to the final, it's amazing and gives us a glimpse of hope that the Grand Final won't be as male dominated as I feared it to be.

As a Swiss I must say I am very surprised we got through, I was personnality not a fan of that performance and would have preferred Latvia to qualify. Oh well, I am at least very happy for Ukraine, Lithuania, Portugal, Iceland and the Netherlands!

De diepte has been one of my favourites for a while, and the performance was amazing. I didn't expect it to get through, but the ten finalists certainly demonstrate that one of the main things people vote for are songs that stir their emotions with honesty and apparent simplicity.

@@in_wino_veritas Yes, I even had to pinch myself because it didn’t seem real. Finally, Europe gave three gemstones a chance to shine in the Grand Final, and it was beyond *amazing* . Even if I fear some of them will be forgotten by televoters/jurors, their messages (Maro’s grandfather loss/Monika’s Lithuanian revival/Systur’s trans activism) are what ultimately matters. 👏❤️

Most euro fans in my country are 40-50yo and only listen to the songs in the day, and i believe thats the same for most countries, so staging is very important

And once again, The Netherlands were the last qualifiers to be announced. Actually the tension was off after Moldova were announced as the 9th qualifiers, because everyone kinda knew what was coming next. (also because they were a safe qualifier and would most like finish in the Top 10 of the Grand Final, but even if it was a borderline candidate, everyone would have become more calm, given the Dutch history of being called last)

Remember y’all that the fan favourites like Austria and albania most probably flopped cuz the majority of voters didn’t know they were favourites before the show and saw only for the first time the not so Great live pefromances. That made them vote for the faves they had based on the PERFORMANCES instead. That could explain Iceland and Switzerland going through for example. And Latvia had a meme/hit value but there was just a little fan base, the majority of *voters* didn’t apparently just get it... or then just all the old people voted idk this was an iconic mess😇🥶

Me too. I hoped that they would qualify, but was concerned that they wouldn't make it, I saw both of them in the Top 10 with the juries, but was afraid that this wasn't enough, especially with Lithuania. My guess is that Latvians were 11th overall and kinda edged themselves out by giving her 24 points. Iceland on the other hand had more friends in this race. Lucky about the many women who made it to the final, next to Iceland and Lithuania, there's Armenia, Portugal, The Netherlands and Greece. It doesn't seem to become an overly male dominated final after all.

Iceland was a good surprise, Switzerland was...

Super happy for Lithuania, I was scared, very happy about Greece, also Iceland, Moldova, Portugal and basically everyone cause they all had really good songs. I don't mind Latvia cause it's not that great, kinda meh for Albania and Austria missing out (very surprised for Switzerland) but I can live with it. Congratulations to everyone! See you on Thursday!

For those wondering why Albania didn't make it,it was probably because the overall appearance and suggestive dancing has a very American aesthetic,Kardashian-esque almost and Europe does usually not favour this sort of thing. This is just my opinion.

It wasnt a song, it was a beat, and even the beat wasnt good. They were going "hey!" hey!" to hype us up for something that never happened.

А що не так? Треба радіти своєму життю та життю своїх близьких. Радіти у будь яку хвилину, навіть у такий для нас важкий час. На сам перед, наша заявка виконую багато речей одночасно: 1) прославляє українську культуру та самоідентичність; 2) розповідь історії власного життя самого виконувача, яка близька для кожної людини світу; 3) емоціональне підбадьорювання українців в Україні, українців, які змушені були покинути свою домівку та європейців, які намагаются допомагати нам у таку скрутну годину; 4) ну і показ нашого характеру, що навіть під час війни, ми можемо посміхатись і не здаватись.

My favourites from qualifiers are Norway, Moldova and Ukraine. At first I wasn’t sure what to think about Moldova’s song, but when I saw it now on the stage it was really good and full of energy. 👍🏻

I am very proud of Moldova, Portugal, Ukraine, Netherlands, Lithuania, Norway, Greece and Switzerland. I didn't expect Iceland and Armenia to make it to the grand final. But I am also happy for these two countries. The big surprise is that Albania did not reach the grand final. "Secret" could not be called a song. Ronela just screams and that's it. And the staging was ... I'd better stop here. I'm ready for the semifinal 2. Good night everyone!

She was one of my three big picks for qualification along with Netherlands and Portugal. I'm so happy all three got through!

Buzzing for Iceland and Moldova 🇮🇸🥰🇲🇩 genuinely thought I was the only Eurovision fan who loved them! Ronela was 100% a shock but looking back it was messy. They should have kept the national final staging; the whole theme, choreo, and general staging ruined the song I think, her vocals just weren’t as good either… Plus we all knew that Pia had been struggling vocally to keep up with the song. It just wasn’t a quality performance tonight. Buzzing with these qualifiers but oh my god they gave me a heart attack there with S10!

Portugal, Norway and Moldova

If you realize, this was one of the quickest results' announcement of the recent ESCs. Even with the part when they connect with Martin Österdahl, it only lasts for 7 minutes, which made everything very fast and there was not time enough to show us the faces of the artists hoping to be announced. It was way less exciting than other years. I hope they change that on Thursday, but they probably won't since there are more songs (one more competing and another more of the Big Five than in Tuesday) and they probably don't want the semifinal to be longer. So I hope they organise better and keep more minutes for the results.

I prefer this way for the semifinals. For the Grand Final they can focus more on building up the suspence. But maybe it is just me, because I found this semifinal to be the weakest, I didn't find interesting most of the songs so I wanted it to end very quickly. Maybe next semifinal will be more exciting.

I felt bad because of Denmark not qualifying,it was one of my favourites but congrats to Iceland for making,it was a pleasure to see them through:)

To be honest, Switzerland was a 100% jury song and i will not be shocked about seeing Switzerland as the jury winner song. Then for Croatia and Latvia, I think in the bookmakers they were definitely out before this semi despite of great lives. Personnaly, I think Albania deserved to not be a qualifier: is the song great ? YES. Is the performance great ? 😬 There was a lot of hype for this song but this performance was not better than her final performance so that’s became a flop. It will be obvious that the song will not be supported by juries and the televoters don’t support enough her to be qualifying. That’s my opinion and I respect totally yours. Sorry for this mong paragraph. Have a nice evening.

Nobody is harassing anybody, check out every KZread, social media or vote made online that we can actually see ourselves not behind closed doors, Albania was a favourite, therefore it was robbed tonight! If ppl don’t like women in her outfit how do they like man in dresses, I just can’t make sense of how it went down, half of the songs that actually qualified except a few good ones, I wouldn’t listen twice even if I was paid to do so. Support your country instead and stop spilling vile messages!

Wait I just realized a pattern between the two sf qualifiers… the order of announcement wasn’t that random: 1st Switzerland / Belgium (a borderline qualifier from a french country) 2st Armenia / Czechia (the last in the running order) 3rd Iceland / Azerbaijan (a remote country and borderline qualifier) 4th Lithuania / Poland (Ukraine’s neighbour and a classy song) 5th Portugal / Finland (A group performing next to each other in final) Porca vacca 6th Norway / Estonia (both neighbours of Finland) 7th Greece / Australia (both emptional big ballads with a white long dress) 8th Ukraine / Sweden (both semi-final winners) 9th Moldova / Romania (neighbouring countries and dark horses) 10th Netherlands / Serbia (both lyrics dealibg with mental health)

Omg my heart literally was pounding I was so happy my fav the Netherlands was qualified

Actually I was waiting for an amazing, stunning, other world show from Italy and... I am disappointed (actually I see things and ideas copyrighted that we saw at Lisbon Eurovision ).. Fireworks, lights, postcards etc.. Ok the water falls.. Hope the next semi-final and even the final brings more to appreciate. At least, the real music 🙌 greetings from Germany ✨ by the way, for this semi, my 12 points goes to Portugal. Unique, different, simplicity and powerful. Well done.

Very happy for these 7, they were my favourites: 🇳🇱🇸🇯🇬🇷🇮🇸🇱🇹🇺🇦🇵🇹 A little bit sad for Denmark 🇩🇰, Albania 🇦🇱 and Austria 🇦🇹, who didn't make it and completed my top 10 of qualifiers. Glad to see 🇳🇱 The Netherlands with that beautiful song in Dutch, Monika Liu singing for the very first time in 🇱🇹 Lithuanian in a Final and 🇮🇸 Iceland in Icelandic again, using their platform and voices to support 🏳️‍🌈 trans people!
