Quadratic Sequences (easy trick to find the nth term) | GCSE lockdown online learning
The trick to finding the nth term for quadratic (and linear) sequences
Make grade 8 maths easy and accessible, essential maths revision
For linear sequences
a is always the common difference
a+b always add to the first term
For quadratic sequences:
This shows how a is always half the 2nd difference
3a+b is always the first 1st difference
a+b+c is always the first term

this trick is fully a god send. My teacher taught us "his way" which took him 20-30 mins to go through. You taught it to me in 5. Respect brother
this guy taught me more than my teacher :)

I’m not even close to doing my GCSEs. I just randomly clicked on this video and it made quadratic sequences SO much simpler! Thank you man.😅 I‘ll defiantly have a headstart of this topic.
Good video. I feel like every time I forget how to solve a quadratic sequence I go on to KZread and find a different method :)
i actually cannot express how thankful i am. was searching over a day to find a way to figure it out. lifesaver xx
thank you so much for this. It took me so long to find an actual video to help me with understanding the sequence
This is so much better than the other methods teachers teach
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! I HAVE A TEST TODAY LAST MINITE AND SAW WE HAD TO REVISE THIS THANK YOU SOOO MUCH MAN :)) ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, you just literally save my life
absolute lifesaver

Thank you so much!!!
absolute legend. gonna save my paper 3 tmw!
Alright... rock n roll!! Good stuff💪
Thank you so much for this, I watched so many other videos yet this is the only one which tells us how to construct the individual equations and solve them

Thanks so much ❤
you’re wonderful
wowii, tysmm
Nice. Would be good to explain where these ‘tricks’ come from. Too many students I teach have been given tricks but no understanding of why.
best video ever
op man op
Didn't know how to find "b" thanks
if the difference of the first difference in the quadratic sequences is two what should we do
😊😊😊
I wish you thought me, I would be so good at math
im in year 8 i think thats 7th grade in america and my teacher taught me like this too luckily, i already understood it but i was intrigued and clicked on this vid. Btw if you are wondering why we are doing this work at a young age its because im in the highest set and do higher level work , why did u waste your time reading this lol
Hello teachers I'm you student i want understanding the meaning of 3n+?
@MathslearnCoUkvideos
3 жыл бұрын
The sequence 3n represents 3*1=3 3*2=6 3*3=9 3*4=12 3*5=15 It is basically the 3 times tables So it represents the sequence 3, 6, 9, 12, 15... So 3n+? is the sequence above with an additional number added on so 3n+2 would be 2 more than the above sequence ie (so 2 more than the 3 times table) 5, 8, 11, 14, 17 etc... It still goes up by 3, but starts at 5 rather than 3

thanks teacher
if thats true then why am i having troubles in finding nth term of 1,2,4,7,11
Thanks you but can you clarify how to get three
YOUR BACK!!
What if you get 1 as your second difference
by doing this in your exam and laying out working like this, would you still get the marks??

In abstract marks such as these, you might pick up marks depending on the examiner, mostly not though
why do we need to half it though?
im going to pass my test tmr
Plz , why you should always use 3a+b = the first diff ?!
liner sequences an=a1+(n-1)d
grade 3 to grade 8
😅
Last few seconds of video cut off.
GOAT 🐐
thank you sm I got entrance exams today
