    I have tried almost every brand of watercolor out there through my over 20 years of watercolor painting and QOR are my very favorite. I absolutely do not agree with you that QOR's binder is gum arabic. I would LOVE to see gum arabic flow like QOR's watercolors flow. I absolutely love how I can fill pans of QOR paint and the colors dry perfectly in the pan and the colors stay true and vibrant even years later. I don't use the earth colors in QOR as much as I do with Greenleaf and Blueberry, but they are pretty, just not as intense. Put a circle of plain water on your watercolor paper and see how these watercolors flow. It's amazing! They rewet perfectly too. I was surprised that this entire review seemed very negative from the beginning but I usually don't watch watercolor videos that seem prejudged. Even before the testing.

    The qor do have a very unique flow . They use a synthetic oxgall to achieve this it's not so much the binder although I agree it's likely not gum arabic. I suspected it was possibly a branded gum Arabic because of how it looked but whatever it is does seem to really adhere well to the substrate, perhaps better than other paints . They are extremely vibrant and I may purchase more in the future 🙂

    Thanks for sharing! I just love seeing the opinions others have on watercolor brands and certain pigments. Aquazol is not Gum Arabic & not much like it except for texture and the ability to mix with pigment. The More Gum Arabic in the paint, the slower the flow. Here's some research I did. >Aquazol, is poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) - also known as PEOX or PEtOx, is a unique and innovative water-soluble polymer (plastic) which is non-toxic, non-hazardous, and biocompatible. Among other novel characteristics, this polymer is temperature responsive and inversely soluble above its LCST, ~66°C. A Polymer is basically synthetic plastic except this one was made water-soluble. I have Qor and love the colors except for a few. Not all the pigments (like the earth tones) are the most vibrant & they are what I call a bully paint. I hate working with them because they are just too unpredictable and inconsistent. Great for back grounds though if you don't need predictability. I still prefer the consistent & predictable properties of Winser & Newton & Schmincke. When I replace a pigment from either brand, I know they will most likely be exactly in every way like the tube I'm replacing. It just depends on the type of artwork you use the paint for.

    Yaaaay! I love Qor paints, they are def some of my fav. Yea Ive never had a problem with Qor paints rewetting and I live in an incredibly dry climate. I actually really love how Qor paints set up, they are firm but easy to rewet. I do have to say Im not a huge fan of Qor earth colors; like their raw umber and such bc i have thought they were a little gritty or foculating...so I'd stick with DS or Roman Szmal for Earth colors..but everything else Qor is great. Dr. Otto Kano on KZread swatches out and reviews every single color from Qor- if your interested in checking out a closer look into every color. Anyway thanks for sharing and much ❤.

    Thank you for watching. Yea I had an earth set sampler thing when they first came out that really turned me off them because of the gritty texture . But I like this set much better . Still not my favorite but good quality. Though there is still room for improvement in some areas .

    Thanks. Please also mix the purple and the cobalt, to see if you can get any sort of normal blue in there. These are supposed to be primaries anyway.

    No this is not the primary's. This is the high chroma set .

    @@nicolemartinart5819 Still, a blue should be somewhere in that mixing ability.. otherwise, it makes the set quite useless, to be honest.

    @@EugeniaLoli blue is a primary color . It cannot be mixed. This set is not intended to be a set of basics or even a stand alone set but rather an add on of extremely bright highly chromatic pigments.

    @@nicolemartinart5819 Ok, but you would be surprised how close you can get to getting a blue like ultramarine, using this cyan and a bit of purple. In fact, there's a video of an oil painter here on youtube where he paints a blue sea using only two colors: purple and green (no blue, and yet he gets shades of blue). When it comes to primaries, yellow is the only one that can't be properly mixed from scratch. Both magenta (using red and purple), and especially blue (using purple and teal) can be KINDA mixed (not clean primary colors, but close). Note how purple is instrumental in both those mixes. That's why I was interested in that mix, between purple and cyan, to see here.

    @@EugeniaLoli red , yellow nor blue can be mixed . They are primary colors. I agree ultramarine can be duplicated fairly close because it is not a primary blue but rather It has contamination of the red part of light. It's a violet leaning blue truly . But that cobalt teal had a yellow contamination since it is a green biased blue . The yellow being the opposite of the violet would easily mix mud in this case.

    😂 we're all good dont worry about it the opera pink is stabilized by aquazol. I do applaud them trying to put forth something new and innovative in such an old medium. Change isnt always a good thing though.

    I have a very important question: you wrote that you can add mediums to your current watercolor to have the SAME cool effects - my question now is: WHICH mediums?

  • @nicolemartinart5819

    @nicolemartinart5819

    11 ай бұрын

    Great question🙂 the mediums I was referring too were ox gall and synthetic ox gall which can be purchased from any art supply shop or online. I highly recommend this synthetic because the genuine talks call does have a very pungent odor since it is an animal gallbladder. So if you're vegan, keep that in mind. The Golden brand makes my favorite synthetic ox gall. It's orderless, cruelty free and best of all, IT WORKS BETTER THAN THE REAL STUFF. ☺️ Less is more, so follow the directions carefully.

    Isn't it interesting that the qor paints don't bead up at all? And I hardly call you calling out a brand for illogical information being salty!

    Thank you for the support. I feel like most reviewers are always so overly complimentary and hardly ever say anything negative about a supply so I get accused of looking for things to complain about lol.
