QANTAS Link - The Fokker F100 Experience... Perth - Kalgoorlie | Economy Class

In this video, I continue with the journey after getting off QF 773 from MEL on the Airbus A330. I am now in transit in PER where my lounge time has been severely shortened due to the delay on the previous flight. Nevertheless, I prod along and get onboard this unique, one heck of an aircraft type which is so rare in the world today. The Fokker F100 is surprisingly very active in Australia with no less than 3 airlines still operating this type. Qantas Link, Alliance and Virgin Australia. I am pretty sure some other mining charter airlines as well. The engine sounds get me all excited and my only regret is that this flight was not long enough.
Please enjoy the video.

Years ago I used to fly to the Pilbara. Places such as Karratha and Paraburdoo. Back then the airline was Mac Robertson Miller Airways, MMA, affectionately known as Mickey Mouse Airlines. They were owned by the long gone Ansett Airlines. The aircraft used mostly on those flights were Fokker F27 Friendship turboprop and F28 Fellowship twinjets. Occasionally there may have been a DC9 or a BAE 146. Great memories. I miss Ansett. When I look at some of their ads here on KZread they bring a nostalgic tear to the eye

When you mentioned that you were in row 19, I wondered if you had abused the check in staff. That row is usually reserved for unruly pax, due to engine noise. Glad you explained your love of engines. My favourite aircraft was theF-28 ( Pocket Rocket ) , Fokker s first jet powered aircraft, sat 60 pax in comfort, and was on the Australian East Coast, and in W.A.

Very much looking forward to it, been WA based I've done a few flights on the good old Fokker 100 over the years to places like Kalgoorlie and Karratha. Perth is basically the world capital for Fokkers which is so well suited to servicing our minining industry and the rather lengthy (for intrastate routes) flights up to the north west! I agree the engine roar on these little jets is amazing and they have a lot of old school 90s charms to them! A shame we don't have any more Fokker 50 though as far as i'm aware operating in the state anymore, Skywest and then Virgin Australia Regional used to have quite a fleet of them in WA!

Also going to check on the house I bought in Lincoln this year to see if tenants are looking after it and look at aterfront land at Point Boston which is 5 mins out of town near the airport. P.S.
