Q131 SES Leyland T45
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
A quick spin round the farm to make sure all is good after replacing the expired fuel lift pump.
Leyland Roadtrain/Constructor, reputedly ex RAF. Stretched with Foden worm drive double bogie on the rear. Rolls Royce Eagle 265 coupled to a Spicer 10 speed box.
If you have any history to this vehicle please get in touch, trying to get it back on to it's age related plate, A589 RTW.

Good to see a man who can double clutch cleanly and professionally.
I spent most of my childhood (80’s and 90’s) in one of tho’s with my grandad, great days they were. DDF-827Y. it was a roadtrain 16.29 day cab artic 290 cummins, spicer box and tipping gear inside the cab as it was on bulk work mainly, low loader and Gen haulage when not. Never thought I’d see inside one of those again so thanks for the upload. :)
It's a shame the army got rid of the old Leyland Drops. I loved these trucks. Just the sound alone had me loving every drive with them

Replaced with GerMAN Junk old school rules
Very good double de clutching pretty slick driving. Only thing with the splitter so much leg work. Preferred the Eaton Fuller range change in my brothers Constructor far less bother. Leyland made very good trucks back in the day. Non assisted clutch needed a left leg like Arnie😁❤
Love the sound of the engine- a real truck!!
OLD SKOOL. MANUAL TRUCKS. RANGE CHANGE AND SPLITTERS. QUALITY
I always like the Leylands, bar the ride quality. Everything else was just so functional and made for the job.
Proper truck. I really miss driving manual trucks..... you know, the ones that you can actually feel on your hands and feet !!!!
And man in love with his gearbox...
Loved my constructor mixer and 10 speed spicer set up, pre-select high or low ready for the next gear and just dip the clutch and so it continued, micro switch used to wear and the air filter on the box used to clog up which would delay gear selection sometimes🙈
Brings me back my dad drove a 16.25 delivering animal feed. Great trick in its day.
Sweet as.............Loved my Constructor and RR265, hope you post more clips like this

Me as well, a great truck, RR265L, loved it.
10 speed spicer box in that💪, first 8 wheeler tipper wagon i drove on the road after passing my test, i drove a scammell routeman 8 wheeler on open cast coal sites first👍👍
Remember going with my brother in a Roadtrain in 1987 A936PBP 16:25 265 Rolls day cab. Pullled a Tasker low loader trailer and I remember my brother saying the rear cab windows were handy when in London
I've been lucky enough to drive a few T45's , day cab, sleeper cab and a couple of Scammell versions. Build quality wasn't the best but they were very nice to drive and the mattress was comfortable in the sleeper cabs.
Aaah the leyland growl. Lovely
Nice to see a proper gearbox I did prefer the 12gear twin splitter box that was a dream to use ask one of these new drivers use a manual box and they wouldn’t know what too do anyone can drive one of these new auto box trucks even my missus give me a manual box anyway proper truckers box
My dad used to drive 1 of these trucks what a great truck
Old truck has that significant loud sound
Great stuff!👍
More please, I love truck engines
Company I served my apprenticeship at had a 6x4 tanker with a TL11 engine as well as freighters that were 4x2 gully emptiers
Sound 👌👌👌
SYT/ First Mainline Dennis Dominators had the same engine and would make mince meat out of Sheffield's terrain. The oldest ones were 25 yrs old when they got withdrawn and quite a few have made it into preservation. A logistics firm near me also had a fleet of Roadtrains as well the same engine.
More of this please
Brilliant 👍👍👍👍👍
Sound of Leyland
Wasn't there a T45 Drivers club back in the 80s..??
Witam. Czy to sound engine SW 680? Pozdrawiam
Had one of them tl11 260 ph and 10 speed spicer box
Sounds like it could be a rolls engine and maybe badged a scammell as they used the T45 cab my dad had a 6 wheel tractor unit which was a scammell
When I first started driving ,my first truck was a leyland roadtrain ! Not knowing any better I thought it was great ……….until a year later I got a DAF 3600 ! It was like stepping into the future . Today driving a Volvo FH16 750 hp across Europe I can only be grateful that technology didn’t end with that DAF 3600……although I do miss the fact that when I first started the speed limiter was my right foot and there were no mobile phones or cameras watching my every move ! Once I left the yard I was uncontactable …..yet the work still got done !
My belly was bigger than yours Rob so i had my seat further back and in an upright position and I found the gear leaver no problem
Love that sound
Is that a twin splitter?
PLH198W My dad s unit with tl11 or 12 in it .
Do you need to clutch for the splitter change ? .. Nice to have a ride with a Roadtrain Leyland.. never seen one inside before.

Thanks! Yes, you need to dip the clutch as there is a microswitch which selects high or low range when the clutch is dipped.

Possibly thinking of the later Eaton twin splitter didn’t need clutch for splitter change on them

What really happened to Leyland brand, why it is stopped
@29brendus
3 жыл бұрын
Beacuse the NWO and the EU Pidos shifted everything to China, having been bought by China who gave them kickbacks for their buggering of young ones, who they send in Evergreen Containers and Maersk. All overseen by Thatcher, Blair, and Soros. And it's still going on with Mr. Floppy PM.

@@29brenduspartly true, but it’s also because people went on strike more than they worked. poor quality control. it’s sad because I really liked English cars/trucks
You wanna sell it ???
Cummins could not supply a engine over 290 Leyland had one on the books but the development would cost to much they was a good motor but they used to bounce bad the reduction hub on the rear axle would pull anything it was the upgrade from the marathon
Rolls with a Spicer.
Not his first rodeo with that box

Why’s the gear leaver so far forward? It’s either broken or terrible design
@BristolVRchap
4 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with it, just a quirk of the design.
