Yes its terrible and heartbreaking that on South America, especially Peru indigenous languages and cultures are erased and people who speak them are shamed😢 even if Peru profits from indigenous heritage from tourists. Its really heartbreaking. They don't know what humanity and indigenous people are loosing 😢

@@sandralison7584I didn't know Qechua was being shamed. My father learned to speak it as it was common, even in Lima, when he was a child. @@rattlecat5968 Yes they shame people speaking quechua and other indigenous languages. They shame them as being dumb and uneducated. Many people in peru don't teach or don't want to teach thier children anymore because they think they will be discriminated against and many don't want it to be teached in schools, because they think the kids will not have good enough education. Witch of course is bull crap. But because indigenous people where kept poor in peru, people with indigenous culture and who live thier culture are seen as "uneducated" even when actually speaking a language like for example quechua is an education, and don't harm the education of other topics. But nevertheless they are shamed abd discriminated when they keep thier culture and language.

Theres a woman working in one of my local grocery stores here in Sweden, she's at least part Greenlandic (if I remember it right, her brother still lives in Greenland), wonder if she's able to speak Greenlandic. May have to ask her sometime when there's time for chitchats (like quiet time in the store so no queue behind), and I do hope she can speak it, it's a beautiful language and needs to be protected at all costs so the language stays for many many many years to come

I love the spirit in Greenland. I live in Quebec, the only French speaking province in Canada and North America. Here, the government forces people to speak French to preserve the French language. They absolutely HATE English and many Quebecers will intentionally tell you they don’t understand English even though they do. I support preserving one’s own language and culture, but English is THE universal language that children should be well taught from a young age. Thank you again for educating us about Greenland ❤

@@titan9259 What I meant is talking to a stranger in public, like asking where is the dairy section in a grocery store. You can either use English or French because those are the official languages in Canada, not many people speak Swedish here! They hate English because of the historical background… but in big cities like Montreal, you can hear a lot more English than 30 years ago. That being said, some close-minded Quebecers still refuse to speak English.

Languages die on a sadly regular basis, specifically for us in the states, a lot of the Native American languages are dying because the elders ho speak it are dying. I just love your videos and your whole vibe, really. When you say “Life is Amazing!”, I actually believe you. (The potential of it, anyway. My life has been less than “amazing”the last few years.)

A fascinating language. Has a pleasing rhythm. And some danish-loanwords I pick out…Kartoffeln… Would be delighted to hear more videos in Greenlandic, thank you for sharing.
