A KIND REQUEST, PLEASE CONSIDER: Dear Dr Campbell, I'm pretty concerned about the public's reaction in Italy. After a famous responsible of the lab that does the tests stated that "it's a complete nonsense all that it's being done, we are treating a flu-like virus as a lethal pandemia" quarantines and precaution measures are not being taken seriously by people and the public opinion is right now quite convinced that "this is nothing more than a normal flu" (some public figures even state that "the flu is much more dangerous because it kills about 400 people a day while coronavirus just one") and that "those who die are just the weak that would die of whatever other reason however". They are even trying to pressure until measures are softened and just let it be. In this situation in which science, disinformation, economy and politics are constantly battling, this kind of opinions are spreding like fire not only in Italy, but also through Europe (yesterday these messages could be seen in newspapers in Spain and for what it can be seen through youtube and istagram comments it's pretty clear that this isn't just us). I fear this kind of "denial mindset" will be an added problem to all this already difficult situation. ------------------THE POINT:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Since there's no way to make a convinced person to go through a large amount of trustworthy and really informative sources (and whatever you say they will simply call you an allarmist), could you please make a summary video explaining why this is no common flu, why it must be not dismissed and why measures like the ones that are being taken must absolutely be accepted and respeted (and probably some stricter ones too). I really think that if you cover the common misconceptions in your calm, transparent science-backed style you could make a huge difference in some communities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I also think we could make it reach further if, from the huge amount of people that respect and admire your work, some offered to translate it in the subtitles. I could make them in Spanish and Basque (Italian is not my mother language but I could try if there's no one else). Please if you are not Dr Campbell and you too think this could help give this comment a like so that the probabilities that he sees it increase. Thank you for all your work

It's Chinese propaganda and I see it spread on YT by obvious Chinese trolls. The proper world response would be to completely isolate China for possibly years until everything is under control, but China does not want that. This is a full on PR campaign to propagandize people into keeping the borders open, even moreso than the usual campaign to flood the west with Chinese and other foreigners at the natives' expense allowing them to take over in time. They don't care how many of us die because of this terrible advice and they are probably happy about it in fact, since to CCP we are the enemy and they desire our subjugation and colonization.

@@LTPottenger I cannot tell to what extent other countries interests and powers might have been behind at first, but what i can confirm is that a pretty high percentage of the population of all socieconomic status and even people with academic background do think that way now and call dumb, allarmist or make fun of anyone concerned (which also helds back those people from taking preventing measures by social pressure)

Same in Turkey and Greece unfortunately😪 I can't even make people of medical background understand my points because of public health officials' claims in the mainstream media. A Greek pulmonologist I am acquainted with said: "Much more people died of flu this season so why the panic? There are only two cases here." and I had to explain her the CFR, R0 and how there could be cases if nobody is tested!?! Here in Turkey too, as a med student I went to one of the largest hospitals in Istanbul for a SARS-CoV-2 seminar last week. All they were talking about was how it wasn't that much different from the flu. They mostly presented the publications that looked the least alarming. Such as the ones that stated the R0 as around 2, only took official data from China as the source to say the CFR must be lower than 1% since many people who had mild symptoms would be undetected etc. Didn't even mention the reinfection possibility or the fact it could be airborne. I was mad at all these but couldn't really talk as I am only a student😪😪 I could finally convince my friends and family to get prepared though so better then nothing I guess...

As an American who has watched this outbreak closely, I too am deeply concerned with my governments lack of transparency with information. Everything we are learning from the rest of the world is being ignored by officials here. They announced the first Covid-19 case of unknown origin this morning but refuse to specify where the case is located. It seems the government is far more concerned with “maintaining order” than saving lives. We too will miss our golden opportunity for containment I fear.

Worry undermines preparedness. “Worrying is carrying tomorrow's load with today's strength - carrying two days at once. It is moving into tomorrow ahead of time. Worrying doesn't empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength.” - Corrie Ten Boom.

I think during the day you can manage the high temperatures with drinking lots of fluids & placing a water soaked towel over your forehead as that going to help naturally to keep the body in better position to counteract the high temperatures. However during the evening & before bedtime if the temperature is too high (it tend to spike during these hours), you may want to take an aspirin or two so you won't get dehydrated in your sleep & also get better sleep. A good night sleep is really beneficial in fighting viruses in general.

The flu never did, so they don't care, but this thing is am immediate threat Oh and looks like its traveling faster than expected outside of china too, so their population density may just mean more people to get sick, not more likely to spread it to others, outside of the obvious statistical relations

I believe the value of wearing a face mask when outdoors is that it provides ‘a physical reminder’ to the wearer not to touch the face. Touching of the face with hands that may have come into contact with potentially contaminated public surfaces could present risks of contagion. It is often a subconscious and frequent unintentional act that is a very hard habit to break. So for that reason alone, I suggest, the wearing of face masks could be a beneficial practice.

That confusion would allow for a time frame of rapid spread; along with a complict WHO not instituting advisories when needed. Just to feed that notion; KZread event 201 or 2🌍1. It is UN agenda 21.

I also have a large feeling of regret for not taking this possibility more serious sooner. I could be much more prepared, therefore much less anxious. If we survive this ok I will make it a priority to be prepared for anything of this sort in the future. In the end I do believe the world will respond appropriately so that this will not be as bad as many of us are fearing, although it may take some uncomfortable efforts, changes, by regular citizens. I've still got a stack of masks, so that's something! P2/3 masks with a ventilation valve, so they don't get damp. But I think everyone should just watch and act for now and not panic. Hi Dr Campbell, Thank you for answering this question. I know you are getting depressed or just feeling blue because you know so many good people will be lost. I already feel the loses. All we can do is listen to uplifting music. Lately I am listening to a lot of relaxing classical music and walking to the park with my kids to get the vitamin D. I know it may not be long until we will all be stuck inside our homes. Let us all be kind to one another in this tumultuous time.

I wish more people were aware of that, most people still cough and sneeze into their hand and then keep touching other people. That would be an irresponsible thing to do, even beeing 100% certain you just have a common cold...
