Q and A with Alistair Begg (Basics 2022)

Pastoral ministry remains challenging and demanding work. Pastors, like all people, need wisdom, encouragement, and reminders of what is important. In a room full of fellow pastors and church leaders, Alistair Begg offers all of this and more, addressing such topics as physical health, Christ-centered preaching, and ministry in the time of COVID, social unrest, and other trials. In the process, he reminds us to stick to the basics: focusing on that which has been made clear in the Scriptures, pursuing Jesus, and loving one another.
Speaker: Alistair Begg

You may truly want to rethink what you said here. I previously fell into that same trap by what i thought sounded good to the ears but was actually proceeding from the devil himself. This man has continued through many years undetected and without rubuke in his face in front of the crowd so that he be exposed that some may be set at liberty in Christ away from this devil,s apostate!

#ThankYou Alistair & Pastors for allowing me to listen in & hear this Q&A…. #AllBecauseOfChrist ‘I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: #preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.’ ~2 Timothy 4:1-5

@@kingswaydaughter7324 That's not what you asked. You did not ask me to describe the error. Although Calvin was not actually the author of TULIP, which came out of the Synod of Dort, it has been adopted by Calvinists. Each and every one of the 5 points is wrong, and not scriptural. Essentially all 5 rest on the foundational belief that God did not create free will in humans. And of course the story of Adam and Eve, and ( post the garden of Eden) Cain and Abel refute this calvinist belief. No creation can act beyond its created perimeters, established by the creator. Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel could NOT have chosen, if not created with the capacity to choose, freely.

The question about youth and when do you think you should begin your pastoral duties is a question that has many answers, depending on the individual himself. Look at Oswald Chambers. He died quite young. Only 43. His value and quantity of wisdom was well beyond the years he lived. You really can't quite compare anyone to another. God gives gifts to His children. They should not be compared. Like a snowflake, all God's children are unique. We may carry the same principals but, for different reasons. Who is to say what is right and what is not. Let God's decisions of who we are, be put into place before we are. And trust the decisions that were made already. Doubt is the tool of the devil. God does not to that way. He minces no words. You just need to wait for His answers. His timing is perfect, trust in that.

There is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1) Does not He see my ways and number my steps. (Job 31:4) The woman, whom you gave to be with me, she gave to me from the tree and I ate. (Genesis 3:1) Are you fine as long as things are going well, but under stress, you become someone else. Note: Adam blamed God and Eve. Either way, under stressful conditions, you lose ownership of your best self out of fear and anxiety, losing your best judgement and abilities. Maybe it is a loss of control or a fear of failure, but when things are not good, neither are you. Eve blamed the serpent. Scriptures presents that it was Adam, not Eve, who SINNED against God and brought alienation from God and death to all mankind. Adam was not the one deceived, (which means HE CHOSE TO SIN); it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. When Adam took the fruit from his wife, he knew full well what he was doing. He was not misinformed or misled; he simply decided TO REBEL AGAINST GOD’S COMMAND. He chose to listen to his wife instead of God. (Genesis 3:17) In Romans 5:12, 14, 15, 17, 19, Adam is held culpable, with no mention of Eve. This “one man” Paul refers to is Adam as Romans 5:14 makes it clear. That’s the problem in the pastoral ministry and the world.

Imagine a room filled with women doing the same for the women and children of the Kingdom. There is a place for us. It is a shame that there is so much frivolous nonsense in Lifeway Bookstores written by women who lightly interpret the word of God. Women, we have a place and it is parallel to this. How we need conferences we embrace our roles as ministers and homemakers, caregivers and hospitality coordinators. Be serious about the word and preach it to those laid out as appropriate according to scripture. We need not wrestle for the place of headship. There is plenty to keep our brilliant minds and hands at work.
