I go to bed at 9pm and i’m up by 5:45 My wife makes me a smoothie that I drink as I grab a shower and shave at the same time. It takes me 10 minutes to dress in scrubs. By 6:15 I’m in my office at the Hospital. I open my computer and check todays surgery schedule and I make sure I’m going to have my team and my chosen anesthesiologist ready and waiting. I make my rounds in SICU with some of the neurosurgery residents and Neurology attending. Occasionally a procedure will necessitate a nuclear team that will implant radioactive isotopes into areas of the brain that had or have malignancy, when it is time for that team to take over we clear out of the area and take a break until the nuclear people have successfully implanted. Sometime during the day I will meet with family and patients who are about to undergo a neurological procedure due to A tumor, trauma or cancer. We also see patients who have been recently discharged so we can gauge their progress and how they are coming along. In the evening I will meet with every patient and answer any questions or any concerns they may have in reference to their upcoming procedure in the next day. The anesthesiologist will also meet with them as well as their social worker. I am retiring in March so I am starting to spend more and more time planning for life away from my life work. I’ve been a physician for 32 years and I am beginning to realize my limitations.

Oh...so she's like a regular, normal working human. .....She's awesome. Thank you for all you do!
Sis, you had me at 90s hip hop. 👊🏾
Y’all be like operating on someone’s brain with 6hrs of sleep and caffeine on an empty stomach 😰

Thank you Dr for all you do❤
Props to ALL career women who manage a household, a job, and keep it all together. ❤️🔥
I just can't say enough how proud I am of you! A neurosurgeon a woman a mother a wife ! Woman to me are like wonder woman because y'all do it all and that is so impressive! My mom did it alone raising 5 of us kids and I am not kidding I have 2 children and I don't know how she did it with 5 children and being a professional working as a missile tester. Woman just rock!❤🙏❤
I’m a surgical neurophys and i also only drink coffee for breakfast 😂 and also a mom and at the OR bright and early every day. Wish more of my surgeons listened to 90s hip hop!
While getting prepped for chiari mal1 decompession/laminectomy in 1996 I asked my Dr at MGH if he had his coffee he said not on days he operates. He is the nicest most skilled doc I've ever met. Shout to Dr. Borges!
no way starbucks has me clocking in before a neurosurgeon wakes up…
oh my gosh we’re the exact same except for our bedtimes lol! i wake up at 5:30, take 20 minutes to get ready, but go to bed around 9-10
As a high schooler who wakes up at 5:30, I can say that it sucks. Power to her for doing that and getting kids ready.

Doctor, take care of yourself ❤. Your family needs you as well as your patients.
You are beautiful and I love your glasses. Thank you for what you do♥️
If the person who's literally in your brain with a knife doesn't get the recommended amount of sleep and then has only coffee for breakfast Id be terrified.
I respect her. She knows what her own body needs nutrition -wise and sleep-wise in order to maintain her professional and home life duties. I wish there were more hours in the day to accommodate more rest for people in this profession.
Thank you for your service we need more people like you be blessed.
It's not about performance folks, it's about BILLING! It's not health CARE it's health BUSINESS.
Props to you for having a family on top of everything ❤️❤️❤️
The idea of a doctor performing neurosurgery while listening to Hit ‘Em Up is both incredibly cool and completely unexpected
You get you and your kids ready in 40 mins..... 🤯

Not hard babe. I have 5 kids. I know.. Lol
The comments here are so ignorant. As a surgeon, we have to endure 80+ hour work weeks. All of the comments here are clearly from people who are not capable of doing this demanding work. If you did, you wouldn't comment, because you would actually know what it takes. This is a normal schedule for most surgeons. Please be kind and respectful. She may be the one to save your life.
I just want to know HOW she manages to get kid's ready in 20 minutes!
I wanted to be a Neurosurgeon but I had nine siblings depending on me. I had to work to provide for them. God is great.
Her lipstick is killing me !! It reminds me of my mean teacher back in middle school 🥲
Hell yeah I want Tribe Called Quest and Pharcyde BUMPING when I get my spinal fusion.
"I love 90s hip-hop"...deserves a follow!
I would prefer my neurosurgeon has more than just coffee for breakfast that's terrifying especially for something like nerve surgeries

Yeah unfortunately that's the case for almost everybody. The work culture around surgery and the conditions most hospital doctors work under don't allow them to stay in optimal shape with good sleeping and eating habits.

Actually, it really depends on their habits. I’m a surgical trainee and when I eat sometimes I feel nauseous and worse. I’m USED to not eating, and training ends up making you intermittent fast without trying. So 🫠

I love her glasses!!! So cute
wow, my s/o does almost the same thing. I have to make him eat, he loves his coffee. When he gets home from work he eats takes a shower and passes out around 8:30 the gets up around 1am and goes back to sleep. Then he's up for good around 5:30
The glasses 🤓! Love them!
90's jams are the best
The whole operating room bumpin to snoop while saving your life

Some of these comments don't pass the sniff test. These women are phenomenal 👏 If it was a male surgeon being interviewed, the comments would be praising his dedication and sacrifice. Seriously people!
She had me at 90's hip hop. 😂
Her glasses are telling me everything thing I need to know about her and I like it! Lol💋💋💋💋
Can you please do more of these?? ❤
Thankyou for inspiring me❤
i noticed the no breakfast thing a few videos back after a very intense daily workout routine. i would simply pass away 😂

Not just a neurosurgeon, a mother as well. Seems plausible to me. Very demanding jobs.
This is interesting Also is ont common to have Apple watch on your arm ? I mean it's easier for her but does it still calculate your pulse, oxygen etc ?

Yes it can
She earned whatever she needs. Being a neurosurgeon is one of the longest in years to specialize in medicine and the highest paid.
Those are some awesome glasses!
What an incredible lady.
thank god someone else can validate my bicep watch concept
omg she looks so sleepy 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 I speaking about the time she has to get up.
I felt that when she said she only has coffee in the morning and no breakfast 😪
She's giving her life years to save others.
Awesome questions 🎉
She is beautiful ❤
I don’t eat breakfast because my stomach is super sensitive in the morning and I don’t have much of an appetite-I’ll eat closer to 9 or 10, so I’m hoping she has snacks or brunch and isn’t running on pure coffee all the way til lunch!
Love it!
Yesss! 90’s hiphop!!! 🎉 Put some Marky Mark- good vibrations on😂
You might be surprised. I’m a surgeon( not neuro) but I personally underperform if I oversleep and overeat.
The fact that a person who works on brains doesn't get enough rest for her own brain
The glasses😍😍😍😍 where did you find? What brand?😍😍😍
Yeah it be quite comforting to assume the person cutting open my brain got a great nights sleep( at least 8 or 9 hrs)

This Dr is Simply Awesome! Actually done surgery on me and it went well 😊 The only complaint I would make is once you have the surgery, Your history and still living in Pain. But nothing else can be done?
Fascinating questions…
You had me at 90’s hip hop
I want neurosurgeon to get more sleep, eat a healthy breakfast and stop leaning on the coffee.
Love the glasses!
the apple watch lmao😭
Thank you for all you do!!!! Well educated woman.
I love your glasses :)
This woman probably makes so much money. My friends dad in highschool was one of the few accomplished neurosurgeons in our city, and oh boy. It’s like the fresh prince of bell air.
Love her glasses! 🤓
How does it only take her 20 minutes to get herself ready?? That braid alone would take me 30 bruh
The glasses are so cool
She had me at 90s hip hop ❤
I just dropped out of from my med school. I wake up 5:30 every morning to not wake up 5:30 every morning in the rest of my life.
>neurosurgeon >coffee for breakfast
90's hip hop/ coffee for breakfast/ up at 5:30am. Same
I think this is true of most healthcare workers.
Relax people. People in the OR hardly eat in the morning, and we function quite well. The body gets used to it.
Betsy, you are FABULOUS!!!!❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ppl in the hospital hearing “ring diiing dooong ringa ding ding ding dooong” from her OR 😂
