    Do we need a subwoofer for this system or the inbuilt sub is good enough for movies?

  • @Farengast

    @Farengast

    3 жыл бұрын

    The answer for subwoofers is almost always "it depends". Floor standing speakers tend to produce good enough bass for vocals and instrumental music (i.e. a bass guitar or double bass instrument generally produces few frequencies below 40Hz) but will not be good enough for bass heavy electronic music where you can more often have deep bass frequencies. Movies it really depends on your preference, if you really want bass that you rattles the ice cubes in your drink you'll probably want discreet subs. Basically subs are needed if: 1) your floor standers aren't very good at bass 2) you want very low

    Hi, BMR drivers can operate over a very wide bandwidth, up to and beyond the high frequency limits of human hearing. In this implementation the upper driver deals with almost the full bandwidth from 150Hz to 20KHz. It is augmented by the lower BMR driver from the mid-range down and then the rear-mounted subwoofer takes over below 150Hz.

    I just want to hear the 'magic' speakers that marketing people insist on filming in rooms that seem to have been purpose-built to give listeners the absolute worst possible experience. I guess a treated listening room doesnt fit the narrative, and I see a lot of claims re DSP addressing room modes but I've yet to hear this magic for myself. For all I know, these are indeed the speakers I seek but having someone from Q Acoustics tell me that the sound is spectacular doesnt loosen the tight grip I need to maintain on my wallet in these troubled times.

    As a Loudspeaker design house. I wonder at the point of a loudspeaker that is indeed signal "Wireless" with all it's onboard DSP etc. That you still need to "Plug in" to a power supply. Sure onboard has it's advantages of shorter load connections & discrete drive of the transducers But "Wireless"??? It needs a power source all the same. I think this is using misleading language to ensnare buyers. Or do you have to recharge them? Makes no mention of how they are powered at all. Nope just bandy about the "Wireless" bit. I am currently working on a no nonsense type that has also a "Magic box" for all kinds of media feed. But it comes as a loudspeaker with DSP & "Multielement drive" But it receives a balanced audio signal from said "Box" is necessary to power it from a source of mains. But also will be available as a remote amp fed & a standalone. This is technology for it's own sake.

    Radiators are by far the best way to achieve 180 degree "presentations"? No, that would be using speakers facing opposite directions. Radiators are for low frequencies only as they replace reflex ports, which makes them useless for higher frequencies (voice for ex). Nothing there is revolutionary, all that technology can be found in existing speakers, and with 2x 4.5" bass drivers the thing wont be shaking any windows too much. No mentioning of any dac or sampleing processor, which matter far higher than almost all the other stuff. iMac of audio, all that stuff can be put together for $250, but youre charging how much? $1000....$2000?
