Love the videos Ellie, super helpful for getting into programming without ever feeling overwhelming! Just finished all the Pycharm tutorials and they've been really helpful for getting to grips with Python, can't wait to get into some more data analytics related coding! Just wondering if you have any advice one what to focus on for a maths degree at Leeds, like specific IDEs that get used or a specific course/textbook that was useful for you? I'm looking to spend some time before September learning as much programming as possible and would be great to have a focus that will be most useful for a maths degree! Ps congrats on this channel's success, great to see your subscriber count going up 100s a day! Will be amazing to see where it is in a few months/years! 😁

Aw thank you so much, Andrew!! That really means a lot😁 Oooo okay! So in my first year at Leeds we learnt about python, R and LaTeX. In semester 1 we had computer workshops to go to and we just worked through sheets on a computer workshop page (see the link below) and that covered python and latex! We mainly used jupyter notebooks to learn python in first year then in second year (if you choose Computational Mathematics) you'll code in the Spyder IDE but I much prefer PyCharm. In terms of R/R-Studio, you'll use this in your statistic based modules! If you go down a more mathematical route in your degree, you'll most definitely use python. In my third year project/dissertation, I'm using python and specifically, PyCharm! If you go down a more finance/statistics route, you'll use R and Excel! Thank you so much! It's been absolutely crazy the past week but hoping to keep the momentum going into 2021! Thank you again for such a lovely message🤩 www1.maths.leeds.ac.uk/~matpw/MATH1010/computer%20workshops/MATH1010-1025%20computer%20workshop%20resources.html

@@CodeoftheFuture Wow that's amazing, thank you so for all that information and the link! Definitely gives me a lot to be getting stuck into! Even more excited to start at Leeds now! Must say I've tried programming before and never got into it, but your enthusiasm for it is contagious and you're great at making seemingly trivial programs seem really interesting! All the best for the 2021! This channel is going to be massive within a few months at this rate, you're videos definitely deserve it! 😊
