How do you know which side is A B or C?
@emirkorkmaz9695
Ай бұрын
a and b have 90° on the angle between them and they can change places, C is the side that 90° sees, the larger the angle, the longer the side they see so c is always longer since none of the other angles can be 90°
I have one question Why we have to take a² b² ???
Can I know how to do the last step? I don’t understand

if you are trying to find x but you found x^2, you square root both sides so x^2 comes out as x
Why is the product denoted as c² rather than the √c?
@LetsDoMaths
3 ай бұрын
As the product of a²+b² is = c². This is Pythagoras' Theorem. You can square root both sides, which would get you √(a²+b²) = c
can I use pythagoras to look for the adjacent and opposite too ?
@LetsDoMaths

If you have the lengths of 2 sides, then yes you can use Pythagoras 🙂 If you only have the length of 1 side, then you need to use Trigonometry.
How to convert 74to 8.6. i am confused plz tell again with example
@LetsDoMaths

Square root of 74 = 8.6. The way to find this is to type [root symbol] then 74, press enter into your calculator, then it should give you the answer. (Some calculators, you have to type 74, then press the square root symbol).

It doesn't matter which you decide is "a" and "b", as it will work out the same. As long as "c" (hypotenuse side) is always correctly labelled.

Is any calculator like that, that uses inches?
@LetsDoMaths
6 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter what measurement that's been used, as you're inputting just the numbers into the calculator. As long as you make sure to use the same measurements throughout, and convert properly if you change measurements (e.g. from mm to cm, or cm to inches).

Convert each side into either cm or mm (your choice), then work it out from there.
I don't understand three things. What is that square in the corner, and why did you write a² + b² = c² when they ² is only used for squares and these are lines? Also couldn't you just measure the hypotenuse with a ruler?
@LetsDoMaths
7 ай бұрын
Hi there, 1. So the squared in the corner means the number multiples by itself. So 7² = 7x7 = 49. Those numbers in the corner are called indices, usually referred to as "Powers". So 2³ = 2x2x2 = 8, 2⁴ = 2x2x2x2 = 16, etc. 2. Indices (powers) have many uses, we use them to calculate things, and the indices say what to calculate, not to mean squares, but because the area of a square is a side times itself, we can use the ² to write e.g. 5x5 as 5², because we mathematicians are lazy (and its uses are easier!) 3. So although there aren't squares, just lines, the actual theorem (Pythagoras Theorem) is showing how to calculate it without the need for measuring. You could measure with a ruler, but it's not as accurate, and if you have an incredibly big, or incredibly small measurement, or making plans to make something, you need a way to find the measurement without physically measuring (such as building plans). That's where Pythagoras Theorem comes into use, there's plenty of videos that show and prove how the Theorem can be found, and why it works, but here's my one: kzread.info/dash/bejne/dX2elc5pmJO9qLg.html

Ruler gets you so far, when you have to measure in miles, or nano-meters, you don't want to use a ruler. Pythagoras Theorem also has applications outside of just measurements of distance.

Arey stupid Pythagoras theorem formula telusa neeku asalu ------>{AC²=AB²+BC²} idhira Pythagoras theorem formula
@LetsDoMaths
Жыл бұрын
Could you translate what you said into English for me please? Guessing from what I can tell from what you've said already; AC²=AB²+BC² is correct, it's just a different way of showing it, but represents the sides from the points. E.g. c²=a²+b² Lower case letters (a,b,c) represent side lengths, whereas capital letters (A,B,C) represent points of a shape (in this case a triangle). So in your formula you have the line c represented by 2 points A and C (hence the line between the points is called AC, [though technically/mathematically speaking AC would be line B]). Both formulas are correct, as they are the same, just in different forms.
